Suburban living just outside of Pooler
The planned community of Southbridge sits on the far west side of Savannah, just below the Pooler city limits. And according to Karin Carr, a Realtor with Real Broker who sells in Effingham and Chatham counties, some people have the misconception that living there is inconvenient. "It's a little tucked away, but it's not inaccessible. And I think that's its strength. Pooler is growing a lot, and there's a lot of construction and traffic, so what's nice about Southbridge is you're close enough to have access to everything there, but you don't have to deal with it every day," Carr says. "And then you're about 10 or 15 minutes from downtown Savannah, too, which is really convenient."

Most feature three or four bedrooms and were built in the 1990s and early 2000s, but those looking for something newer can find a few homes built in the 2020s -- or choose to build their own. Lot sizes run large, with landscaped front yards and spacious backyards. The wide streets are lined with sidewalks, offering space for an evening walk. Prices start around $400,000 and climb to around $800,000, with more expensive houses offering twice the square footage and larger lawns. Those looking for a home with less upkeep can find three-bedroom condos and townhouses ranging from $340,000 to $500,000.
