Homes are spread out across multiple subdivisions in the city's western portion. While many homes were built between the 1970s and 2000, purchasing a newer inventory is possible. Older homes typically include ranch homes and bungalows on compact and narrow lots. Newer homes are contemporary homes with touches of Mediterranean style featuring earthy tones spaced on decent-sized lots. Port Orange Days and the biggest event in NASCAR
The city of Port Orange puts on multiple community events throughout the year, with its largest being Port Orange Days. Nearing its 30th year, the three-day event is a carnival, community parade, hundreds of vendors, live music and more at the City Center. “The city and the parks and recreation department put on multiple family-friendly events throughout the year,” Lenard says. Sports fans are near “The Great American Race,” the Daytona 500, held every February at the Daytona International Speedway, 11 miles north. The track holds events throughout the year, including a second NASCAR race in August.

All of Port Orange is part of Volusia County Schools, which rates a B on Niche, serves more than 66,000 students and ranks the fifth-best Orlando area school district on the site. While there are multiple school paths in the area, one potential option for students is Sugar Mill Elementary, which grades a B, then the B-plus rated Creekside Middle, before earning their diplomas from Spruce Creek High School. Spruce Creek grades as an A, and Niche ranks it as the best high school in the district. The high school offers one of the largest international baccalaureate programs in the country based on the number of exams given.

Port Orange West is dissected by Interstate 95, which runs north to south down the East Coast from Maine to Key West, Florida. A little bit further north on I-95 is an interchange with Interstate 4, an east-west highway that navigates across the state.
