Golfing and outdoor adventures on Prescott's northeastern frontier
Developed between the Willow Creek Reservoir and Watson Lake at Prescott’s northeastern edge, the community of Prescott Lakes packs golfing, outdoor excursions and suburban living into 1,100 acres. The Club at Prescott Lakes golf course forms the heart of this master-planned neighborhood, but conveniences from shopping to restaurants surround Prescott Lakes. Plus, the entire neighborhood offers panoramic views of the mountains of the Mogollon Rim, while major parks sit nearby.

Parks, petroglyphs and putting in the neighborhood
The Club at Prescott Lakes is the centerpiece of this neighborhood. This 210-acre, 18-hole golf course lets community members and their guests play while taking in the course’s sweeping views. The club also includes swimming pools, a fitness center and tennis courts, while the clubhouse features a pro shop and a bar. "The neighborhood is surrounded by a golf course, while the community center is amazing," says Realtor Rose Gowen with Keller Williams Arizona Realty, who has sold several homes in the neighborhood. "It gives a very ‘private club’ feel, even though the restaurant is open to folks coming in. Every home in that community is required to join the club, which averages between $130-160 a month." Beyond the course, the nearby Willow Creek Reservoir and Watson Lake are hotspots for kayaking, hiking and rock climbing. The Solstice Mesa Petroglyphs sit atop a towering hill from which the scenery of the surrounding city and desert lay at the viewer’s feet. Just across Willow Lake, Heritage Park invites families to visit its playgrounds and zoo, which shelters birds and big cats alike. The Jan Alfano Trail loops around the reservoir and connects with several other nature paths running through the desert.

Hillside homes with mountain views
Prescott Lakes is a recently developed community with diverse housing styles. "It’s a much, much newer community; they only started building in the 2000s," Gowen says. The median year of construction is 2015, reflecting the neighborhood’s continuing growth. Most houses were built in the ranch style, although Cape Cod and Santa Fe influences and townhouses are common. Homes with square footage from 1,360 to 2,000 sell for between $425,000 and $765,000, while houses with between 2,000 and 2,500 square feet can fetch between $750,000 and $990,000. The largest residences, with lot sizes between 2,500 and 4,600 square feet, vary from $1.1 million to $2.2 million. "Finding anything under $500,000 would be cottages in gated communities," Gowen says. "Most all homes there may have up to a $280-325 monthly fee for the HOA and being involved in the club." Prescott Lakes’ streets sit along desert hillsides; while front yards tend to feature pebbles, desert shrubbery and trees, many backyards face a skyline with distant mountains and nearer hills.
