A golf club in the heart of the Arizona desert
With its expanse of verdant golfing fairways, its abundance of tree-lined streets and its proximity to major shopping, the Prescott Golf & Country Club is not the average Arizona desert community. "it’s a nice, quiet neighborhood great for retirement or second homes for folks down in the Phoenix area who would like to cool themselves off," says Realtor Rose Gowen with Keller Williams Arizona Realty, who has sold several homes in the neighborhood. This golf-centric development sits just off State Route 69 and along Prescott Valley’s eastern fringe. Prescott Golf & Country Club’s location along a major highway and near the Mingus and Bradshaw Mountains presents opportunities for recreation beyond the golf course.
Golfing and outdoor getaways
This neighborhood takes its name from the Prescott Country Club development and the golf club within it. Prescott Golf Club forms the heart of this community, its greens serving as a back yard to many residences. This club is home to a par 72, 18-hole course developed in 1971 atop an old cattle ranch. The course is open to both country club residents and members of the public, while both beginner and veteran golfers can test their skills on this course’s varied terrain. Prescott Country Club includes an outdoor pool and a 24-hour fitness room, while the neighborhood dog park sits at the neighborhood’s western end. Though this development may not border any public parks, its location along State Route 69 puts the kayaking at Lynx Lake, the rock climbing at Watson Lake and the camping at Powell Springs within an approximately 20-mile drive. Prescott Valley's elevated location provides neighborhoods like Prescott Golf & Country Club with lower temperatures than the Phoenix metro area.
Dining at and near the club
Despite its location at Prescott Valley’s southeastern edge, the Prescott Golf & Country Club has no shortage of local eateries. The club itself is home to the Redwoods Grill, which serves up dishes from artisan-crust pizza and its signature “Redwoods Burger” to seasonal specials like salmon and pasta. Casa Perez Mexican Restaurant immerses customers in Mexican culture with its colorful murals, its thematic chairs and its authentic recipes. Brunchtime is a big deal at Modern Coffee & Deli, which offers bagel sandwiches and burrito bowls in addition to its in-house roasted coffee. The nearest grocery outlet is the Family Dollar in neighboring Quailwood, but the supermarkets, restaurants and movie theater at the Prescott Valley Town Center sit just 8 miles up the state route.
Golf course homes with diverse styles and sizes
Prescott Golf & Country Club offers diverse living experiences; some homes are situated within the golf course and others sit along quiet, residential streets. This community has over 1,600 houses with an average lot size of .25 acres, each residence varying in both size and design. Ranch-style homes vary in price from $230,000 to $580,000, while larger houses with Santa Fe, Chateau and Contemporary aesthetics range from $630,000 to $940,000. "It’s an older community," Gowen says. "You see some homes that were built in the 1980s, and some of the homes back up to the golf course." However, construction has never stopped in this growing neighborhood. Streetscapes are defined by large front lawns featuring abundant shrubbery and trees, and this community’s streets tend not to have sidewalks.
College prep at Bradshaw Mountain High
Humboldt Elementary School and Bradshaw Mountain Middle School each score a B-plus from Niche. Bradshaw Mountain High School, given a B-minus, offers technical education classes and dual enrollment with Yavapai College to give its students a head start in both their career and education journeys.
Highway access to urban hubs and healthcare
Access to State Route 69 puts Prescott Valley, with its shopping and its campus of the Yavapai Regional Medical Center, just a 7-mile drive to the north. The city of Prescott is 15 miles westward down the same highway, while the Phoenix metro area lay 70 miles to the south.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
