Spacious parks, local dining and public transportation
Tightly packed multifamily houses and condo buildings make up the streets of Corona, a Queens community. "It’s a good proximity to Manhattan,” says Anthony Tamboni, a licensed real estate broker at Weichert Realtors TMT Group with over 25 years of real estate experience. “The best thing is it’s right next to Flushing Meadow Park and Citi Field, where the Mets play. It’s also very diverse.” Wide sidewalks lead residents to spacious parks, local restaurants and public transportation options. The neighborhood has over 800 acres of outdoor recreation to the east and the rest of Queens to the west.
“It’s a very densely populated area,” says real estate broker Manuel Vargas of Keller Williams Realty Landmark. “You’re going to see a lot of people. When you step off the train, you’re going to see a lot of businesses, including a lot of businesses on the sidewalk. It’s very congested, very populated, very dense. I would prepare people for that. But it’s also very lively, very active and very healthy, economically speaking.” There are plenty of small businesses to support and green space to explore around Corona.
Citi Field is a baseball stadium located in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
The median house price in Corona is $725,000.

Commuting by train or on the expressway
Commuters heading to Manhattan have a 10-mile drive down Interstate 495, also known as the Long Island Expressway. Those who prefer to ride the 7 train to Manhattan can catch an MTA bus to the 103 St-Corona Plaza subway station. The Flushing Meadows Corona Park has plenty of parking, but locals who live nearby might walk down the wide sidewalks to explore the expansive park. Because LaGuardia Airport is 4 miles north of town, it’s common to hear planes flying overhead. Corona has two hospitals nearby: NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health, Jackson Heights in the north and NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health, Lefrak in the south. The CAP Index gives Corona a crime score of 4 out of 10, which is also the national average, but the area sees a higher-than-average rate of violent crimes.

Lemon Ice King is a local favorite
Tamboni says the neighborhood stands out because of its diversity and shopping. Vendors set up booths at Corona Plaza, and the vendor spot becomes a festival venue during the annual Day of the Dead celebrations. While most of Corona's eateries reflect its rich Latin American culture, longtime Italian eateries like Park Side Restaurant remain engrained in the community. For over 40 years, the restaurant has served a full menu of seafood, pasta and soup entrees.
“Corona is home to the famous Lemon Ice King. That’s a Corona institution,” Tamboni says. “You walk up to the counter and order what you want. I always get the chocolate chip and the lemon.” The Lemon Ice King of Corona opened its doors in 1964 and has stayed a local favorite ever since. The Great Wall Supermarket and Food Bazaar have groceries covered, and corner stores along 108th Street provide more options. Queens Center Mall neighbors Corona and features over 150 stores. Residents only have to drive or bike 1 mile from central Corona to the shopping destination.

Multifamily options and attached single-family homes
Brick rowhouses, mid-rise condominium buildings and semi-detached houses fill the area. Co-op units often sell for $130,000 to $345,000, while condos can go for $345,000 to $500,000. Single-family homes generally range from $700,000 to $900,000. The rental market in the neighborhood is very strong, and those looking to invest can find multifamily properties that cost between $1 million and $2 million. “Mostly people are buying two- to three-family homes, living in one unit and renting out the others,” Tamboni says. “The entry-level prices would be around $850,000 to $950,000. The market is not slow at all. Corona is selling very well.” The active market and abundance of multifamily buildings make the neighborhood a good choice for people interested in owning or renting properties.
The median household income is around $70,000 in Corona.

Recreation at Flushing Meadows Corona Park
Innovation and creativity thrived at Flushing Meadows Corona Park, as the park was the site for the 1939 and 1964 World Fairs. Today, visitors to the 839-acre space can join Zumba classes, explore museums or settle under the Unisphere sculpture for movie nights. “There’s always a soccer match or people barbecuing,” Tamboni says. “There are always people there, especially in the summer until after Labor Day. People love that park.” The Alliance for Flushing Meadows Corona Park also hosts the annual Evening Under the Sphere to raise funds for the expansive park. Other popular spots within the park include the Queens Zoo and the Fantasy Forest Carousel Park.
Louis Armstrong, the famous jazz musician, lived in Corona with his wife Lucille until the artist passed away in the 1970s. Lucille turned the home into a museum and archive for her husband, and the Louis Armstrong House Museum maintains the historic home and celebrates the musical legend’s birthday every July with a swinging jazz concert. The Mets play baseball at Citi Field, a mile from the neighborhood. Fans can get to the stadium by train or car.

Queens Night Market and other weekly events
Every week, the Queens Night Market brings locals out after dark to see over 100 vendors selling food and artisan crafts. Participating vendors change weekly, so the experience is different every time. Multiple places of worship serve the Corona community, including the Saint Leo Roman Catholic Church, which conducts services in English and Spanish. The LeFrak City apartment complex holds the Masjid Nur Allah, LeFrak City Jewish Center and United Trinity Baptist Church.

I have lived in Corona all my life and particularly love the diversity here. I have been exposed to new and different sounds, tastes, ideas, and people who have provided me with a very warm environment. I have enjoyed all that it has offered- the accessibility of public transportation, commercial centers, and the close proximity of the public library. I don't think that there is anything that I would change as I enjoy the activeness of the community. I appreciate that even the nights are calm and that it has been a home like no other for this long.

Overall, Corona is a safe place. Once in a while something does happen, but the authorities are quick to respond.

Corona is Lively neighborhood in the biggest Borough in the city. It's home to the Louie Armstrong House, The Lemon Ice King of Corona, The Hall of Science, and various points of interest. you got Flushing Meadows Corona Park next door, home to the Billie Jean King Tennis center and Citi Field, home of the New York Mets. There are various shops and restaurants of many diverse cultures. However, I wouldn't say that is the best Neighborhood in NYC. for one, for having a lot for schools, they are overfilled with very few schools funded properly. There are more Primary schools but very few Middle schools in Corona. Safety is all right. There are some crimes happening at times, but the police gets it r solved quick. overall it is an okay place.
