Lockwood Park provides natural boundary and forested backdrop
Manree Park is a leafy residential neighborhood south of Lockwood Park and just 3 miles west of downtown Racine. "People love Manree Park. It's a sought-after place that's always been a decent neighborhood with nice homes. It's a great walking neighborhood," says Ann Carbajal. A lifelong Racine resident and Realtor with Shorewest Realtors, Inc., Carbajal has been selling real estate in the area for six years.

Neat grid of leafy streets creates homey atmosphere
Manree Park streets are lined with shady, mature trees on grassy medians beside narrow sidewalks. Homes have driveways large enough to park a camper or a boat. Ranch-style homes dominate the neighborhood, with some Cape Cods, Tudor Revival, split-levels and midcentury modern styles sprinkled in. Most homes sell for between $185,000 to $325,000. "People who buy usually stay there. When homes go on the market, they sell pretty quickly," Carbajal says. Many of Manree Park's homes were built in the 1940s and 1950s. "Manree Park was part of a postwar surge. It was a move-up neighborhood. Homes were larger than those in West Racine, so they were like Shangri La to move-up buyers," says Kimberly Mann, who co-hosts the Living in Racine YouTube Channel with her husband, Russell Mann. The neighborhood contains the Orchard Street Residential Historic District, which features around 50 homes built from the 1920s to the 1950s.

Natural abundance of Lockwood Park marks northern boundary
Lockwood Park and the Graceland Cemetery lie directly north of Manree Park. Formerly known as Graceland Park, Lockwood Park is one of the city's four large "community parks." Lockwood is a local fishing spot where catch-and-release fishing for smallmouth and largemouth bass is available year-round. State law permits motor trolling with up to 3 lures, hooks or bates per angler. The park stays busy in warmer months with summer camps and fishing. During the winter, people flock here to sled down a massive hill that is lit at night when it snows.
To the northeast of Manree Park, the smaller Harvey Park has a playground, playfield and historical exhibit. Maple Grove Park is a nature area at the northern tip of Harvey Park. Washington Park Golf Course is 1 mile east of the neighborhood. More than 105 years old and home to generations of local golfers, it's a classic recreational space within reach.
