Cozy neighborhood near NC State and Downtown Raleigh
Just below I-40, South Raleigh is more rural than its northern neighbor while still offering a commercial district, quality schools and highway accessibility. It’s also home to several green spaces and NC State University’s agriculture campus. “As more and more people come to Raleigh, it’s growing out and out,” says Taylor Oldham, a Realtor with Choice Residential Real Estate. “But South Raleigh is still an extremely affordable area for people who want to be closer to the center of Raleigh.” Afterall, downtown Raleigh is a 4-mile drive on South Wilmington Street. The area's recent growth has brought about plenty of new construction and investor opportunities. “Builders are trying to find anywhere they can find land at this point,” Oldham says.
NC State University is part of the backbone of the Raleigh community.
South Raleigh combines rural environments with urban amenities.

A classic Carolina suburb with amenities within reach, the neighborhood is arranged in well-organized grid streets, mostly ending in cul-de-sacs. South Raleigh is populated with ranch-styles, traditional and split-level homes. Single-family homes range from the low $200,000s to just over $1 million, depending on the house's age, remodel status and square footage. There are some established neighborhoods, but homebuyers are more likely to find new builds. "The neighborhood has a lot of infill constructions,” says Joe Alercia, a Realtor with RE/MAX United. “Large condo projects and townhouses are also huge in this area." These developments are available in subdivisions like Renaissance Park and Carters Mill.
