Stonebridge is a wooded Raleigh subdivision with HOA amenities
A collection of over 500 homes on private, wooded land, Stonebridge is a tucked-away subdivision with built-in amenities maintained by an active homeowners association. "Although a little further out than the other neighborhoods in north Raleigh, Stonebridge is a very desirable area,” says Mark Parker, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston who frequently sells in this section of Raleigh. “It is a very large community built in the early to mid-‘80s with larger lots, two community pools and clubhouses.” It is near Interstate 540 and just a few miles from shopping, dining, schools and a large nature park.
A variety of housing styles on nearly an acre
On gently curving, quiet residential roads, properties in Stonebridge sit spaced out on lots with a median size of a quarter-acre, though many are nearly an acre. Established trees and foliage give the neighborhood a sense of privacy. Most homes have long driveways, and the streets tend to be narrower and lack sidewalks. “It has a wide variety of styles from traditional to contemporary homes,” Parker says . Houses from the 1980s and ‘ 90s range from $525,000 to $1 million. New homes tend to be smaller than the average house in the neighborhood, with prices roughly between $370,000 and $420,000. Homes stay on the market for an average of 18 days, less than half of the national average.
Millbrook Magnet High and Wake County school choice
Students living on or above Kinsdale Drive attend Pleasant Union Elementary School, earning an A on Niche. Others are zoned for B-plus-rated Baileywick Road Elementary. All students are zoned for West Millbrook Magnet Middle and Millbrook Magnet High, both receiving A-minuses. The high school is home to the Sustainable Agriculture Academy, where rising ninth graders can apply to join the cohort and take courses like horticulture and animal science. Wake County Public School System offers school choice through magnet and early college schools, but students can only apply to attend schools they are zoned for.
Traveling on Interstate 540 and Six Forks Road
"It is located just off of Creedmoor Road, just north of Interstate 540 — which is our outer beltline,” Parker says. “Due to the size of the neighborhood, it does have three separate entrances.” Once on I-540, Raleigh-Durham International Airport is nearly 13 miles away. The about 12-mile commute to downtown Raleigh could take around 35 minutes in heavier traffic on Six Forks Road. The neighborhood is car-dependent, with limited biking opportunities and no public transportation. Stonebridge has a CAP Index crime score of 1 out of 10, significantly lower than the national average of 4.
Swimming and pickleball in Stonebridge and nearby parks
The Stonebridge HOA, which all homeowners must be members of, maintains the pools, tennis and pickleball courts and playground. They have a club swimming team that competes with other club and community teams in Raleigh, as well as clubs for book and wine lovers. "Stonebridge also has [Misty Lake] in it, which adds to the ambiance of the neighborhood,” Parker says. Residents can cast a line and fish on the path leading to the pond. Baileywick Park is a nearby green space with covered and uncovered basketball and pickleball courts. Next to the elementary school of the same name, the park has playgrounds, multipurpose fields and a dog park. Stonebridge isn’t far from the Falls Lake Trail, where a large lake and undeveloped grounds are commonly used for hiking, fishing and swimming.
Shopping centers are just a few miles away
While Stonebridge has more of a suburban atmosphere, it’s only a few miles from shopping and dining on the other side of Interstate 540. In Harvest Plaza shopping center, there’s a Lowes Food and a variety of cuisines, from frozen custard and bagels to Mongolian barbecue and Mediterranean food. Next door, Six Forks Station Shopping Center is home to Target, Home Depot and Triangle Cinemas movie theater. Milton's Pizza & Pasta opened on Six Forks Road in 1983, quickly becoming a local staple as the owners expanded the restaurant multiple times before opening a second location.
