Easy-access Redding suburb between Interstate 5 and Enterprise Park
Bordered on the west by Interstate 5 and on the east by the 90-acre Enterprise Park in southeast Redding, Enterprise is a collection of subdivisions surrounding Enterprise High School. In the 1970s, this formerly unincorporated community east of the Sacramento River was annexed into the City of Redding. Some subdivisions took shape in the 1970s through the 1990s, and others between 2000 and 2016. "Some of the homes in Enterprise are really close to I-5, so you do get some noise,” says Ron Marin, Realtor with Coldwell Banker, who's been selling in the area since 2010. “But you might pay $10,000 to $20,000 less in Enterprise than in neighborhoods further east." From the north end of Enterprise, residents can reach dining, shopping and Downtown Redding within a 4-mile drive.
Sports and water play in Enterprise Park, golfing at Riverview
The 90-acre Enterprise Park sits on the eastern edge of Enterprise, drawing local athletes, runners, and green thumbs to its fields, trails and community garden. One of the newer attractions in Enterprise Park is a six-court pickleball complex installed in 2021. Foursomes can choose any open-play court, and single players can join with new partners all day. The courts start popping at 6 a.m., quiet down in the midday heat and pick back up in the cool of the evening. Kids' Kingdom is the big draw on hot summer days, combining a colorful playground and Fantasy Fountain splash park with an erupting water "volcano." In central Enterprise, East Oak Estates residents walk across the street from their yards to East Oak Park, a pocket park where kids enjoy a mulched playground in dappled shade, and friends shoot hoops. More fun is found in nearby Turtle Bay Exploration Park on the Sacramento River, including an indoor art and science museum and an outdoor botanical garden. Golfers love being able to join the private Riverview Golf and Country Club, only a 1-mile drive west on Churn Creek Road from the south end of Enterprise.
Modest midcentury through 2000s homes
Many single-family homes in Enterprise incorporate earthtone stucco and heat-tolerant pebble landscaping punctuated with hardy shrubs or tall cypresses. In the north end of Enterprise, Echo Oaks subdivision contains single-level and two-story homes built between the 1950s and 1970s, asking from $340,000 to $390,000. To the east in Enterprise, Churn Creek Heights' streets are lined with stucco and siding ranch-style homes built in the 1990s and early 2000s, asking between $340,000 and $450,000. East Oak Estates in the south part of Enterprise offers homes built between 2010 and 2016 priced from $440,000 to $460,000.
B-plus Enterprise High School
Public schools are within the Enterprise Elementary School District, which rates a B-minus on Niche. Students can start at Lassen View Elementary, which gets a C-plus, and move on to Parsons Junior High, which gets a B-minus. Older students head to Enterprise High, which earns a B-plus grade and offers a standout basketball program.
Small retailers and restaurants in the community, Mount Shasta Mall 2 miles north
Services and eateries line Hartnell Avenue at the north end of Enterprise. Colorful, eclectic Sweetspot serves ramen and a rainbow of gelato flavors. In International Plaza, locals lunch on fish and chips at The Lighthouse, and the colorful family-owned Puerto Vallarta serves traditional Mexican favorites. Conveniences are also plentiful. There’s a SaveMart, Ross and Jamba Juice in Churn Creek Marketplace, which broke ground in 2018 in South Enterprise. In 2022, Costco opened in the River Crossing Marketplace just across I-5. Residents can drive just two miles north from the north end of Enterprise to reach Shasta Mall, which has over 80 retailers, a Sprouts Farmers Market and a popular food court.
Immediate I-5 access, RABA bus option
Roads around town or leading to I-5 in Enterprise are noticeably uncongested, so most residents drive to errands, outings and work. For those who use public transit, the Redding Area Bus Authority offers bus stops along main throughways such as Churn Creek and Echo roads. The Redding Regional Airport is less than a 6-mile drive from central Enterprise.
Redding Pro-Am and Enterprise Park events
One of the nearby Riverview Country Club's biggest annual events is the Redding Pro-Am every June, the largest in Shasta County. It's a very competitive golf experience, where pros come in from all over to play with amateurs. Football fans have been heading to either Enterprise High or Shasta High every October since 1993 for River Bowl, the once-yearly rivalry game between the two city high schools that no longer play in the same division. Enterprise residents enjoy a healthy dose of River Bowl pride because Enterprise High has won the majority of the matchups over the years.
