Highway 44 is one of the main arteries running through Shasta View in Redding Ca.
East Redding suburb tucked between a forested creek buffer and Highway 44
In mostly residential Shasta View, homeowners enjoy quick access to Highway 44 from streets that branch away from central Shasta View Drive. Hartnell Avenue is the community’s southern border, offering a handful of businesses in a small commercial park. The neighborhood is home to four houses of worship, a longstanding Bible college and a compact city-owned park. Its western portion is buffered with trees along a shallow meandering creek, offering a quiet lack of through traffic.
Beautifully landscaped homes are available in Shasta View Redding Ca.
Midcentury through 1980s ranch-style homes
The Shasta View neighborhood is intersected north-south by Shasta View Drive. “It’s a really long street, so it connects a lot of different neighborhoods, from entry-level to nicer," says Tammy Krumvieda, owner/broker with Mistletoe Realty, who's been selling in the area since 1996. "North of Hartnell in Shasta View, most of the homes are considered a step up from entry-level. The homes are older, so conditions vary in curb appeal.” Several subdivisions comprise Shasta View, including Gregory Estates and Lincoln Shasta Meadows to the west and Clover Creek Estates and Country Squire Estates to the east. Homes were built primarily between the 1950s and 1980s. Ranch-style homes built in the 1950s are priced between $275,000 to $340,000. Homes built in the '70s and '80s range from $350,000 to $380,000. Short driveways lead to attached garages, and homes sit close together on slightly weather-weary asphalt streets that are edged with sloped curbing. Front and back yards include pines, oaks and random soaring palms.
B-plus Enterprise High and Shasta Bible College
Students start at Shasta Meadows Elementary before heading to Parsons Junior High, both earning a B-minus. Older students advance to Enterprise High, which gets a B-plus and is ranked by Niche as the seventh-best high school for athletes in Shasta County. Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in the community includes the private faith-based Saint Joseph School for kindergarten through eighth grade. The Shasta Bible College and Graduate School, offering undergraduate and graduate degrees, has been a stalwart in the neighborhood since 1970. “It’s a lovely, quiet campus,” says Dr. George Gunn, Vice President of Student Services and professor at Shasta Bible College in Shasta View since the late 1980s. “We have an oak forest between us and the highway and a large vernal pool to the east that’s quite beautiful. It’s federally protected wetlands, so the pond fills up every spring and looks like a lake. Our librarian loves to birdwatch and write there. We also still have small classes and a close atmosphere, so we’re sort of a best-kept secret in Shasta County.”
Small neighborhood green space, natural wonders nearby
The small Hawn Park, also known as Rotary Park, is tucked between homes on Hawn Avenue. Dogs aren’t allowed in the park, but neighbors can picnic at tables under shade trees. Upward Sports athletes play next door at the CrossPointe Community Church’s baseball diamond. At Clover Creek Park on the northeast edge of Shasta View, kids enjoy a grass lawn and playground, and friends shoot hoops. The nearly 300-acre Turtle Bay Exploration Park is just a quick 7-minute, 4-mile trip west on Highway 44. Attractions include the 700-foot Sundial footbridge, the Turtle Bay Museum and access to 10 miles of trails and pathways.

Convenient Holiday Market, options at Mt. Shasta Mall
Nearby cafes and bakeries include From the Hearth Kitchen and Pie Shop, which offers house-made items from donuts and coffee to fresh salads and wraps to an array of pies and cakes. “Sweetspot just moved to Hartnell recently,” says Krumvieda. “Even though they do serve meals, I go there to get really special cupcakes that are always a bit nicer than the standard grocery store kind.” For more choices, Mount Shasta Mall is just 3 miles northwest. The mall is filled with dozens of brand-name stores and is fringed with chain eateries, including Olive Garden, Red Robin and MOD Pizza. On the other side of Churn Creek Road that encircles the mall, Cinemark Redding 14 and XD has been the movie-date spot since 1995. The closest grocery store is Holiday Market on Hartnell and Shasta View, which is expanding into a newer, larger facility. Its new building will be joined by a Starbucks, bringing that quick drive-through brew within a mile of central Shasta View. Grocery options are plentiful in the larger area, from Safeway 3 miles west to Trader Joe’s, Sprouts, WinCo Foods and Walmart, all surrounding Mt. Shasta Mall.
Hop on 44, easy drive to the airport
Most residents get around by car, but there are Redding Area Bus Authority stops available along Shasta View Drive. It’s easy to hop on Highway 44 and connect to Airport Drive to reach the Redding Regional Airport, about a 10-minute, 6-mile drive south.
Heat makes insurance an essential issue
First Street climate risk data scores Shasta View an 8 out of 10 for both heat factor and severe fire factor. Homebuyers should ensure that required insurance is obtainable.
Fireworks festivities and holiday lights
One of the area’s biggest draws is the Fourth of July fireworks at the Redding Civic Auditorium. And every year from November through January, Turtle Bay's Botanical Gardens sparkle with the Redding Garden of Lights display.
