A sought-after, sandy coastal town
Winchester Bay is a community on the Oregon coast known for its recreational activities, weather and sand dunes. It’s a major day trip destination, with lots of RV parks and campgrounds in the area. “On the weekends, everyone’s taking their dune buggy to the beaches,” says Pearl Hergert Heaton, a Realtor with EXP Realty who has been selling homes in southwest Oregon for nearly a decade. “But the community itself is really small. And I see a lot of families move here.” While some people may see the area as a vacation spot, others have chosen to settle in the small bay community. “It can be very windy — they call it the windy bay for a reason — but it’s a beautiful area where you can catch a great sunset,” says Esther Markwick, a Realtor with Central Coast Realty who lives in the area.
