Beautiful, midcentury architecture

Plumas is named for Plumas Street, which runs north-south through the neighborhood. This main street branches off into the quiet residential lanes that form the neighborhood of Plumas. These grid-patterned streets are bisected by alleyways, making for easy navigation and walkability. Midcentury styles dating from the 1940s to 1960s are the most common home types in the neighborhood, including many low-flung ranch homes, brick cottages and Tudor Revival homes. “This area has some of the most original homes in Reno. There's lots of old, beautiful architecture that’s been really well-maintained,” Kirsch says. These dwellings tend to be on the smaller side, typically around 1,000 to 2,000 square feet, with small yards and detached garages accessible through the alleys. Lot sizes are usually around 5,000 to 7,000 square feet in size, so residents can still have space for gardening and landscaping. Prices typically range from $400,000 to $840,000 depending on the size and condition of the home.
