The aptly named South Meadows offers a convenient, comfortable neighborhood in the highly sought-after area of south Reno. "It's one of the best parts of town you can live in. It has great access to the highway, and there's tons of walking trails around there," says Trulie McCabe, a Realtor with Assist2Sell who has sold multiple homes in the neighborhood. "The views are incredible. You've got great views of Mt. Rose and the Washoe Valley." South Meadows residents are conveniently located near all their daily needs and several local attractions without dealing with the hustle and bustle of living in the city's center.
Lock-and-leave homes in southern Reno
Homes in South Meadows are primarily condos and apartments. Very few, if any, single-family homes exist within the neighborhood. The Resort at Tanamera is one of the most popular condo communities in the area, offering homes with stucco siding and spacious built-in garages. Many of the units provide updated bathrooms, kitchens and appliances. Residents have access to a community swimming pool in the middle of the neighborhood. The Meadows is a popular gated community next to The Resort at Tanamera, offering more spacious condos that typically come with a small backyard or patio. A two-bedroom home in South Meadows will likely cost between $400,000 and $500,000. Three-bedroom homes are rare, but the ones that are available cost between $475,000 and $500,000.

Shop at Reno's most popular malls
Living in South Meadows puts residents equidistant from two of the most popular malls in Reno. Meadowood Mall is about 4 miles north and is a large indoor mall with popular department stores like JCPenney, Macy's and Dick's Sporting Goods. The Summit is an outdoor mall 4 miles south of the neighborhood, home to high-end retailers like Williams-Sonoma, Sephora and Lululemon. Residents can see a movie at Cinemark Century or have dinner at Skipolini's, a popular Italian restaurant in the shopping center. Closer to the neighborhood's center, residents can dine at Great Full Gardens, a health food restaurant known for its vegan and plant-based options. Locals can pick up groceries at the local Smith's or Sprouts Farmers Market locations. There is a Walmart Supercenter just across Interstate 580 for more household needs.

Highly rated schools on South Meadows Parkway
Students in South Meadows will likely attend Double Diamond Elementary School, which is located in the heart of the neighborhood and receives a B rating from Niche. Depoali Middle School and Damonte Ranch High School are each just a short drive from the neighborhood and receive A-minus ratings from Niche. Damonte Ranch serves approximately 1,900 students with a student-teacher ratio of 20-to-1. Students can participate in the school's Navy JROTC program. The school also offers career courses in forensic science, theatre tech and food and nutrition.
One of the best aspects to living in South Meadows is it is only a 25 minute drive to go skiing.
Take in the views from the South Meadows Trail
South Meadows residents are conveniently located near several popular parks in south Reno. Huffaker Park is about 2 miles north of the neighborhood and is a popular spot for sports, with a baseball field, basketball court and tennis court. The park also has a walking and biking trail that takes visitors up a hill to a scenic viewpoint. The South Meadows Trail is a popular walking trail that surrounds a vast open space in the neighborhood's southern end, offering a space for a relaxing stroll with pristine views of the surrounding mountain ranges. Comstock Park is just east of the neighborhood and has a playground, basketball court and open field for soccer or football.
Interstate-580 will take you directly to South Meadows from surrounding areas.
Easy access to all of Reno
South Meadows gives residents convenient access to many places they'll want to go. "They're 25 minutes from the ski areas and 30 minutes from Lake Tahoe. It's only 20 minutes from the airport. It's really conveniently located," says McCabe. Residents have convenient access to Interstate 580 on the neighborhood's west side, giving them a route from north to south through Reno. Downtown Reno is about 10 miles north of the neighborhood along I-580. Residents can get to the Mt. Rose ski resort via a 16-mile drive along I-580 and Mt. Rose Highway. Lake Tahoe is about 30 miles from the neighborhood. There are several bus stops throughout the neighborhood on South Meadows Parkways, Double R Boulevard and Double Diamond Boulevard, giving residents plenty of ways to get around using public transit.
Renown, one of Reno's highest rated hospitals, has a second location in South Meadows.
Major employers minutes away
Much of the neighborhood's northern end is industrial, putting residents close to large warehouses and businesses such as UPS, Aramark and Penguin Random House. Residents are also conveniently located near the Renown South Meadows Medical Center, a full-service hospital on Double R Boulevard.
