A waterfront neighborhood by Reno

Centered around a glittering lake and full of upscale homes, parks and retail venues, the trapezoid-shaped Reno neighborhood of Virginia Lake provides residents with a scenic, suburban existence just 3 miles from downtown. This verdant neighborhood is within walking distance of diverse dining options, tennis courts, a golf course and even one of Reno’s most luxurious casinos. “This well-maintained community offers the convenience of walking distance to Virginia Lake,” says Realtor Nigel Jones with BHG Drakulich Realty. “Residents can enjoy amenities such as a dog area, while its prime location provides easy access to shopping, MidTown, the airport, bus lines, Virginia Lake, and the Peppermill Casino.” With Reno’s greatest features nearby around every corner, Virginia Lake simultaneously situates residents close to this city’s famous nightlife and within a relaxed, semi-suburban atmosphere.

A mix of architecture in Nevada

Virginia Lake’s housing stock reflects both this neighborhood’s midcentury origins and its continued popularity as a suburban alternative to downtown living. Virginia Lake, created in the 1930s as a New Deal project, is surrounded by homes varying in style and date of construction, with older homes tending to be built from the 1950s to 1970s. Older brick houses, ranch-style residences and Midcentury Modern homes share Virginia Lake’s quiet streets with newer single-family homes, townhouses and condos. Newly built properties usually offer smaller front and back yards of around 3,000 square feet, while plenty of apartments and condos at the southern end of the neighborhood are ideal for those seeking a smaller space. Large, midcentury homes typically sell for between $650,000 and $1 million, while new homes on smaller lots fetch a lower price, usually between $400,000 and $600,000.
