Parallel lives Railroad tracks carving through Iron Triangle.
A conveniently located section of Richmond
Iron Triangle is a neighborhood that packs a ton into its unique shape. This enclave is named for the railroad tracks that give it its triangular boundaries, a section of the Contra Costa County city of Richmond. Iron Triangle is filled with an array of mostly early 20th-century homes, multiple parks and quick access to the Bay Area Rapid Transit train system. “It’s convenient to Oakland, San Francisco and Marin County, and there’s some renovation happening there,” says local Realtor Michael Hughey of RE/MAX Accord, a member of the RE/MAX Hall of Fame. “It’s on its way up.”
Find an option that fits
Most of Iron Triangle’s housing inventory is made up of compact single-story bungalows built in the first quarter of the 20th century. These homes come with floor plans that are often anywhere from about 600 square feet to just over 1,000 square feet. Price tags here often range from the $400,000s to the $600,000s, and homes typically sell after an average of about 36 days on the market. “I think it’s just more so the access to freeways,” says local Realtor Bobby King of Select Real Estate Group, on Iron Triangle’s appeal. “The closeness and proximity, whether you work in Oakland or San Francisco. You’re only 20 minutes or 30 minutes from any of those locations.”
Walk through the Iron Triangle and you will see many of the homes are newer stucco homes.

Finding a bite to eat is as simple as a stroll down the street
Iron Triangle offers its share of commercial amenities within a quick walk or drive away from those who live here. The options include Richmond City Center, a complex where locals can knock out grocery shopping at Foods Co. or pick up prescriptions at Walgreens. “When they put the Foods Co. down there that made it really convenient for people in the neighborhood,” says King, who has been in real estate for almost 20 years. “Because everybody doesn’t drive.”
There are also a couple of restaurants here, including the popular Salsa Taqueria, known in part for its burritos. After a meal at Salsa Taqueria, locals can hop over to one of the neighbors, Lee’s Donuts, for a sweet treat.
