Walkability meets residential charm a mile from downtown

Just a mile north of downtown, this historic Richmond neighborhood is situated in the area known as Northside. Originally developed in the late 1800s as one of the city’s first streetcar suburbs, today, Sherwood Park is a quiet neighborhood with charming homes and proximity to city amenities. “My recent seller in Sherwood Park loved everything about this area,” says Michelle Moore, a Realtor with EXP Realty LLC who has sold homes all over the greater Richmond area. “She loved the friendly vibe, the cute houses, and the walkability to restaurants and entertainment in the city.” Sherwood Park is just a few blocks from Scott’s Addition, a thriving dining district known for its breweries, and is also conveniently located off Interstate 64.

Classic Cape Cods and brick Colonial Revivals

The charming, leafy streets of Sherwood Park are lined with sidewalks and mature trees. There is a range of architectural styles that include Cape Cods, Colonial Revivals, and brick ranch homes perched on level lots that average a quarter-acre. Lawns are well-tended with simple landscaping, and street parking is most common. In Sherwood Park, a four-bed brick ranch-style home can sell for $350,000, a four-bed Cape Cod for $538,000 or a four-bed brick Colonial for $715,000. “The house I recently sold sat on the market for several weeks due to being outdated, but the house across the street, which was renovated, sold much faster, “Moore says. “If it’s in good condition and ready to go, it will sell within days. This market is still hot.”
