An older part of Rio Rancho, west of the Village of Corrales
Corrales Heights, west of the Rio Grande and about 15 miles north of downtown Albuquerque, is an older neighborhood in Rio Rancho. Known as the "City of Vision," Rio Rancho was developed in the 1960s. Today, it's one of New Mexico's biggest and fastest-growing areas. "Corrales Heights is one of the original neighborhoods; there have been homes there since the late '70s," says Leigh-Jo Anzures, a qualifying broker with Syan Real Estate. Corrales Heights is west of the Village of Corrales, a rural area with a small-town feel, nicknamed "The Horse Capital of New Mexico."
1970s and '80s single-family homes in Corrales Heights
Many Corrales Heights homes date to the 1970s and 1980s and are single-family, predominantly ranch-style, with driveways and multicar garages. Those with Southwestern architecture may have Pueblo-style stucco exteriors and flat roofs. "It's not master-planned like Cabezon or Enchanted Hills," Anzures says, referencing other Rio Rancho developments. Corrales Heights has many cul-de-sacs, including those on a row of streets backing up to state Route 528. People living closest to the highway may experience noise issues. Inventory on the market may be limited. In the 12 months before late January 2025, sales were in the low $200,000s to the high $500,000s.

The trail is frequently used by walkers, often with their dogs. In the northern part of Corrales Heights, there are two small community parks. Leon Grande Park has a basketball court and a gazebo used by area residents for small family gatherings. The park has also served as a site for the city's summer food service program, providing free lunches for kids. Veja Baja Park has a playground and a grassy area. Esther Bone Memorial Library is a couple of miles west of the neighborhood. Among its many programs, the library offers educational lectures, book clubs and crafting activities.
Rio Rancho Marketplace and locally owned restaurants
West of the neighborhood, across SR-528, there's Rio Rancho Marketplace, which includes an Albertsons Market and a Target. The movie theater Rio Rancho Premiere 14 is a few miles west. Cottonwood Mall, one of the state's largest malls, is about 5 miles south.
