Annual events at River Front Park
At the community’s core is River Front Park, a favored greenspace offering acres of outdoor recreational fun. It’s also the venue for highly anticipated annual events. The most notable celebration is RiverFront Fest, which takes over the first weekend in June and provides the ultimate carnival experience. From carnival rides and food trucks to games and local vendors, there’s more than enough to keep you entertained. Village trustee Bobby Thomas says the fest is “a celebration of community, family, friends, food, fun and music, held right here on these very grounds of the riverfront. It's been a gathering place for many generations of River Grovers over the years.” Get there early and claim your spot on the lawn as musical acts such as tribute band Blooze Brothers and Second Hand Soul Band grace the stage. Other well-attended events include Concerts in the Park, the Lions Club Steak and Lobster Fest, Unwined and the holiday tree lighting ceremony. Throughout the year, it is the perfect place for a casual day of play or just a relaxing moment to take in the great outdoors.
For intense hiking, biking or nature watching, Jerome Huppert Woods and the Forest Preserves of Cook County deserve a visit.
