"Life here is very comfortable, because you have a variety of restaurants and people are very friendly," says Thomas Zibkowski, a Realtor with Real Estate One Inc.. “There are lots of big trees in this neighborhood; you have a very natural setting.”

It’s also the alma mater of Rochester Hills’ most famous resident, Madonna, who herself excelled academically at this highly rated school.

Shadow Woods is close to both public and private golf courses
Golf aficionados will find plenty of opportunities to test their swing at nearby golf courses. Two shopping centers offer plentiful retail and restaurant options
Shadow Woods sits immediately next to The Village of Rochester Hills, a major retail hub since its opening in 2002. The local Whole Foods shares this shopping complex with dozens of clothing and cosmetics stores and a selection of chain and local eateries. Decorated with artwork inspired by the painter Jackson Pollock, The Jackson Restaurant offers a fine dining experience with menu items including crab fritters and caviar. Across Adams Road, University Square is home to the local Trader Joe’s and Busch’s Fresh Food Market. The Half Day Café serves up diner classics like Reuben sandwiches and gyros while also offering a relaxed venue for a quick coffee during an afternoon errand run.

New Traditional homes and new condos sit along Shadow Woods' streets
While much of Rochester Hills’ housing stock dates to the mid-20th century, Shadow Woods stands out as a relatively young section of the city. 1970s and ‘80s-built New Traditional homes with Colonial Revival, Tuscan and Tudor influences sell for between $470,000 and $657,000, well above the city average of $475,000. Condos built in the early 2020s vary in sale price from $680,000 to $734,000. Most homes are surrounded by thickets of trees, and many homeowners choose to cultivate lush front gardens as well. Shadow Woods’ properties trade sidewalk access for larger lawn sizes.

Quick access to employment hubs and healthcare
Shadow Woods, like the rest of Rochester Hills, is primarily a bedroom community for commuters. “It’s a very central location that’s convenient for a lot of people," Zibkowski says. This subdivision's location along Walton Boulevard puts it less than 10 minutes away from the manufacturing hub of Auburn Hills and 20 minutes from Troy. Ascension Providence, which is both the closest hospital and itself a major employer, is also just a 10-minute drive away via the boulevard.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
