Convenient location and a community feel in Rockwall

Just south of Interstate 30, Lago Vista is a small neighborhood comprised of 8 streets. “You can see Lago Vista coming over the bridge,” says Courtney Womack, who has been a real estate agent with Ebby Halliday for 6 years. Lago Vista is also in a convenient location, with access to shopping centers and Rockwall events. “Everyone in Rockwall still knows everyone in Rockwall,” says Womack. “It still has that community feel.” Downtown Rockwall hosts a farmers market every Saturday, different marketplaces will appear several times a year, and the parks are sponsored by local businesses to provide upgrades.

Lakeside views set on a hill

The area is built out with New Traditional homes lining the roads. While most homes will have a Colonial Revival feel, some homes are semi-custom and have multiple housing elements. Prices begin around $360,000 for a single-story home and can reach up to $675,000 for a Colonial Revival. There are also some Mediterranean-style homes, beginning at around $715,000 and reaching about $922,000. The area is lined with sidewalks, and some homes have back alley access to a garage. While the neighborhood is mostly established, mature trees do not fill the area, leaving the view of the harbor unrestricted. “Lago Vista is literally behind the harbor. They look out their backyard and its right there,” says Womack. “It seems every person has a pool to see everything over the lake, and it’s set on a hill.” Homes often have retaining walls.

Highly rated schools in Rockwall ISD

Students begin at Dorothy Smith Pullen Elementary School for kindergarten through sixth grade. They then attend Maurine Cain Middle School for seventh and eighth grade before moving to Rockwall-Heath High School. Rockwall-Heath is rated the #1 best public high school in Rockwall County by Niche and offers students the International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement programs. All three schools earn an A from Niche. “The school district is really good,” says Womack. “A lot of people went to the original Rockwall and still ask which high school you attended.”

Lake Ray Hubbard activities and splash pad to the east

While Lago Vista does not have any dedicated park space within the neighborhood, there are marinas close by that residents can use to access Lake Ray Hubbard. “The lake brings everyone,” Womack says. On the other side of I-30, the Harbor Bay Marina has 350 covered and uncovered boat slips. Some marinas offer jet ski or double-decker pontoon rentals. The man-made lake, providing water to the Dallas area, is predominantly stocked with hybrid striped bass and blue catfish for anglers. Less than a mile east, The Park at Foxchase has an open greenspace for any impromptu games, as well as a catch-and-release pond and a splashpad.

Harbor shopping center with local businesses

Lago Vista is just across from the Harbor Rockwall shopping mall, an outdoor mall with 21 stores, including Tiff’s Treats, Huckabee’s Coffee and a cigar bar, En Fuego Cigar. “It’s a really popular area,” Womack says. Running northeast are the more classic shopping centers with Sprouts Farmers Market, Target, The Home Depot and JCPenney as some of the options. Every Saturday from May to September, the Rockwall Farmers Market features over 50 local vendors.

Music by the lake

Rockwall events fill the summer calendar with multiple live music events, including the Concert By The Lake. “When I first moved out here, I thought it was awfully nuts for a Thursday afternoon until I realized how early people show up,” Womack says. The Concert By The Lake officially begins at 7 p.m., but parking can fill up quickly. Free parking is offered at the TREND HR building.
