About Rohnert Park, CA

About Rohnert Park, CA

Town motto - “The Friendly City”

As one of the more modern areas in Wine Country, Sonoma County’s master-planned community of Rohnert Park stands out as family-friendly and suburban compared to its historic counterparts like Sonoma Proper and Healdsburg. Speaking in SoCal terminology, Realtor Giovanni Ferdinand says Santa Rosa is to San Francisco what Riverside is to Los Angeles. “Rohnert Park, Santa Rosa and Petaluma are the more affordable communities in the county,” says Giovanni Ferdinand, “It’s about a 45-mile commute to San Fran, but the price difference is worth it.” Stretched along US Highway 101, residents won’t see many tourists here unless they’re simply passing through.

Neighborhoods arranged by letter

While the town is surrounded by the Sonoma Mountains, the area is set on flat land. Neighborhoods are open and spacious due to wide streets, sidewalks and mature trees that are confined to neatly landscaped yards. A standout aspect of Rohnert Park is its alphabetically sectioned neighborhoods; streets are named after their corresponding section letter. For instance, the M-section includes streets like Montero Drive and Madison Avenue, while E-section streets have names like Elsa Avenue and Edna Court. The neighborhoods vary in character, with Section D & E offering a mix of mid-sized single-family homes and apartment complexes, and Sections F & H featuring medium to large single-family raised ranch-style and split-level homes. Prices typically range from $375,000 to $1.1 million, depending on the section. Most ranch-style homes were built between the 1970s and '80s, while cottages and Craftsman-style starter homes were built in the 2000s. Condos and townhomes can be found in Centreville, priced around $450,000 on average. Overall, homes in Rohnert Park typically sell within 42 days (on par with the national average) and go for around $743,000 as of Spring 2024. New homes are currently under development in SOMO Village, located on the foothills of the mountains. Completed features include an outdoor amphitheater and charter Credo High School. By 2031, the city aims to have built 1,800 homes (including affordable housing options) on 175-acres of walkable land.

Swim at Honeybee Park or bring pups to Maurice Fredericks

While each neighborhood comes equipped with its own park, the 13-acre Golis Park in the G-section is a favorite among kids for its baseball fields and colorful playground. Residents often head to Golis to throw parties in the parks picnic area. Swim laps year-round at the Honeybee Park pool or play tennis after dark at the 13-acre Magnolia Park’s lighted courts, located on the same lot as Monte Vista Elementary just off of Bodway Parkway. Dog owners can let their pups run free at the Maurice Fredericks dog park on Waterslide Lane or unwind at the 127-acre Crane Creek Regional Park with views of the rolling hills, meadows and forests.
