Tight-knit suburban neighborhood
Maidu is a tight-knit and community centric neighborhood in southeast Roseville. “We have a lot of parent involvement and a really strong parent-teacher club that hosts events like the annual Fall Carnival here,” says Shannon McCarthy of George Sargeant Elementary School. “The city of Roseville provides a crossing guard and it’s the type of neighborhood where parents don’t have to worry about safety as their kids walk to school.” Maidu also features a massive park that serves as the focal point of the neighborhood. There are 55+ communities like County Villa Estates for retirees. The population has a median age of 47 and 26% of residents are over the age of 65. Overall, people stay in Maidu for the long haul, as over 70% own verses rent.

Established, large lots
While 55+ communities are available, the majority of housing in Maidu are ranchers and bungalows with a mix of Craftsman and Mediterranean-inspired builds. “It’s a very established area and the majority of the construction was completed before the late 1990s,” says Hayden Hill of Compass Realty who has sold over 20 properties in the area. Single-family homes fall into the $580,000 to $900,000 price range, with a couple of properties going for over $1 million. The quiet residential streets end in cul-de-sacs and are flanked by wide sidewalks, great for walking the dog. Most lots are quite spacious and have room for private pools in the backyard. Houses feature attached multi-car garages and long driveways. Two-bedroom homes in the 55+ communities are in the $125,000 to $200,000 ballpark.

Eich Middle shines
Kids in Maidu attend the Roseville City Elementary School District beginning at George Sargeant Elementary. Sargent Elementary holds a B-plus overall rating on Niche and has an A rating in student diversity. Next is Warren T. Eich Middle School, which has an A rating on Niche and was named by the service as the seventh-best school in Placer County. Teens attend Oakmont High School, part of the Roseville Joint Union High School District. Oakmont has an A-minus Niche rating. Oakmont offers an International Baccalaureate program and a Health Careers Academy for students who wish to go into health care after graduation.
The Warren T. Eich Middle School is an International Baccalaureate school.
Oakmont High School is the home of the Vikings.

Fun at Maidu Regional Park
The massive Maidu Regional Park covers 152 acres and has plenty of attractions. “The park is a huge draw to the area and the neighborhood was really built around it,” says Hill The skate park offers thrills while the park also has large softball and soccer complexes. Residents can shoot hoops or take a quiet stroll through the Veteran’s Memorial Rose Garden. The paved path in the park is a favorite of joggers and bike riders. The smaller Dietrich Park has a playground for children and picnic tables for an afternoon lunch. For an indoor workout, locals can head to the Orangetheory or Anytime Fitness locations off Douglass Boulevard. The Maidu Branch Library has events throughout the year for readers of all ages.

Dinner at Dos Coyotes
Among the many restaurants in the area is Dos Coyotes Border Café. Dos Coyotes is known for its elevated Mexican fare, where diners can enjoy their meal on the outdoor patio. Blue House Korean BBQ offers all-you-can-eat, grill-your-own meat, making it a fun spot to enjoy with friends and family. Buck & Sadie’s is the spot for a casual meal out. The restaurant has a menu full of burgers and craft beers and has indoor and outdoor seating. The neighborhood has a Sprouts Farmers Market for grocery shopping, but other options like Raley’s and Walmart are just north of Douglass Boulevard. Retail is available at Placer Center Plaza and Roseville Center strip malls less than a mile away.

Access to I-80
The neighborhood is bordered to the west by Interstate 80. Locals can hop on I-80 for quick access to Sacramento or drive the highway to San Francisco or Lake Tahoe for a weekend trip. For travel closer to home, the Roseville Transit buses have frequent stops along Cirby Way.
