Roseville is one of two Twin City suburbs directly bordering Minneapolis and St. Paul. “People are attracted here because of the unique location and the schools,” says Scott Rehovsky, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty. “That, and the parks, is why people live near the Twin Cities.” The city has a slew of outdoor recreation, and in the colder months, indoor and outdoor ice skating. Its location allows residents to take advantage of the Twin Cities' numerous Fortune 500 companies: Best Buy, General Mills, Target, Xcel Energy, Ecolab and 3M, which have headquarters a short drive away.
The Roseville civic campus includes Roseville City Hall, the Oval Skate Park, the fire station, and the maintenance facility.
Rosedale Center and the surrounding area offer big box stores and shopping opportunities.

A mix of classic and modern in Roseville
It was developed as the suburbs started taking shape in the 1950s. Because of that, there are plenty of ranch-style houses, or ramblers, as they call them in Minnesota and other modestly-sized structures. “There is a mix because 3M executives had large, custom homes built as it was more populated,” Rehovsky says. “So, there are some million-dollar homes.” The median single-family house price is $339,000, slightly lower than Minneapolis’ $340,000 and higher than St. Paul’s $320,000. All are lower than the national average. Townhouses are spread throughout the city, but a few developments exist, like Westwood Village in the South Owasso neighborhood. Condos are prominent, especially in the Lake Owasso neighborhood.
Large spacious ramblers with spacious yards are common in Roseville.

Ice skating and fun by lakes in Roseville parks
Since Minnesota is home to 10,000 lakes, it’s no surprise that some outdoor recreation options are close to a small lake. That’s the case at Central Park, which is over 200 acres. It’s divided into six areas connected by walking and biking trails and surrounded by Lake Bennett. The Central Park-Lexington section has a sand volleyball court, a playground and the Frank Rog Amphitheatre near the lake. The venue hosts the Live at the Rog summer concert series on Sunday and Thursday evenings.
Winter means big crowds at the Roseville Skating Center. Between November and March, the John Rose Minnesota Oval is an outdoor ice skating rink that transitions into an inline skating space from May to September. The Roseville Ice Arena is open year-round and is home to the high school’s boys and girls hockey teams and the city’s figure skating club. The arena is also open to public skating.

Rosedale Center offers plenty of name-brand shopping
Where Interstate 35W and Minnesota 36 meet is a large retail section anchored by the Rosedale Center, with 160 stores and several big-box stores and restaurants surrounding it. “It’s a huge mall, and everything you could need is there,” Rehovksy says. Roseville has no downtown, but small shopping centers are scattered with small shops and restaurants. Some are concentrated near the intersection of Larpenteur Avenue and Lexington Parkway.

Neighboring the Minnesota State Fairgrounds
The Minnesota State Fair is held at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in the neighboring community of Falcon Heights. Thousands attend the event that starts at the end of August and culminates on Labor Day. “The fair started as all about agriculture, and it has kept that tradition,” Rehovsky says. “The cool thing is that it changes as Minnesota changes. The food options at the fair reflect the diversity in the state.” When the fair isn’t going on, the venue hosts various events, including horse and livestock competitions and car shows.
Rosefest, a celebration of Roseville, offers a week of family friendly activities in June.
Each year, the annual Rose Parade draws thousands of parade enthusiasts.
