From glass company town to established Toledo suburb
Many Rossford families have been around for generations, while new homebuyers come for the tight-knit feel. "People from Rossford love Rossford," says Realtor Justin Spann, who sells homes in the city with Key Realty. "They stay in the city for their whole lives, and their kids often stay as well." Since the pandemic, Rossford has also attracted a growing number of transplants who appreciate the suburb for its pastoral charm. "I like the quiet, small-town feel," says Alannah Castor, who moved from New York City to be closer to friends. "The seasons here are lovely."
Like many midwestern cities, Rossford grew from an industrial boom during the late 19th century. Originally home to the Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Company, it has evolved over the past 125 years into a cozy Toledo suburb home to approximately 6,200 people. Residential streets border the Maumee River, and the Hollywood Casino opened its doors in 2012, strengthening the economy of the downtown. Rossford's proximity to both Interstate 75 and the Ohio Turnpike allows for convenient access to the rest of the Toledo Metropolitan Area
