Tight-knit village between Chicago and Milwaukee
Shortly after World War II, a company called L.B. Harris of Chicago began selling the first homes in what is now known as Round Lake Heights. Quickly, service men and women began to settle the area and established a homeowner association and social club to organize themselves before becoming an incorporated village in 1960. At the time, the population was just over 1,000 and has since grown steadily; today, it sits around 2,600. It maintains its status as a tight-knit, family-friendly community, maintaining much of the original 1940s-built housing with some newer constructions mixed in. “Round Lake Heights is a great place to raise a family,” says Realtor Ivonne Payes, a Round Lake Heights local with over 15 years of real estate experience. “People have room to enjoy nature with the lakes and natural areas, and then Round Lake Beach is right there with its shops and amenities. It’s a place where families stay generation after generation.”

The community isn't really there. Kind of lonely and people keep to themselves.

I enjoy the fact that all your grocery stores are very close together, making the town very convenient. I would like to see more restaurants around, there is a lot of vacant buildings that need to be used.
