Just like Mayberry

Just 10 miles from downtown Sacramento, Sierra Oaks Vista is a neighborhood with large lots and friendly faces. “Imagine Mayberry where everyone wants to know their neighbor, but with bigger homes,” says Alexis McGee, owner of Alexis McGee Real Estate Group Inc., who has four decades of experience in the area. “They have a voluntary neighborhood association where neighbors coordinate holiday parades and other events throughout the year.” Sierra Oaks Vista residents tend to want to stay for a while, with 90% owning rather than renting. The established community has a median resident age of 56, and those residents are well educated, with 66% owning college degrees and 32% having graduate degrees.

Large lots

Homes begin at $1.3 million and range up to over $3 million. Housing styles vary from California bungalow-style ranchers to modern Craftsman builds to Mediterranean architecture. “I think the biggest draw for Sierra Oaks Vista is privacy because the lots are quite large,” says Realtor Tina Suter of House Real Estate, who has a decade of experience in Sacramento. “People can refurbish an existing house or tear it down and build something new, which provides flexibility.” These large lots provide owners with plenty of room for private backyard pools. Multi-car garages are attached to homes, and many houses feature long driveways. The quiet, residential streets are shaded by mature trees.

GreatSchools: The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
