Inner-ring suburb in St. Louis Park

St. Louis Park is widely known for its inner-ring suburbs, and Eliot is no exception. With easy access to U.S. Interstate 394 and a 7-mile commute into the Twin Cities, commuters seeking a more convenient lifestyle should look no further. Peaceful and largely residential, the neighborhood is home to over 2,000 residents spread out over 28 blocks. “Eliot is an affordable option for entry-level buyers seeking a quick 15-minute commute into downtown Minneapolis,” says Melissa Clawson, Team Lead at Clawson Home Group with eXp Realty. And with the Shops at West End minutes down Cedar Lake Road South, quick grabs from Cub Foods and Costco are highly accessible. Residents capitalize on such conveniences, leaving more time for outdoor amenities, like picnicking at Jersey Park or utilizing the off-leash dog areas at Dakota Park and sunbathing on the beaches of The Chain of Lakes only 4 miles away. Eliot is desirable for its proximity to urban amenities and downtown Minneapolis, while also maintaining a secluded suburban feel.

Traditional ramblers and New Traditionals

The majority of homes in Eliot were constructed around the 1950s with houses common of the era, including a healthy supply of ranch and minimal traditional designs. Eliot features a variety of home styles ranging from traditional ramblers and Cape Cods to New Traditionals and multi-family condos and townhouses. With a median sales price of $330,000, homes in Eliot are generally priced more affordable than properties within the Greater Minneapolis Metro Area, however, buyers must act quickly due to a limited supply of around 600 homes within the community. “Eliot attracts a wide range of buyers with both single family and multi-family options — It’s great for Minneapolis commuters and young families,” says Clawson, who has been selling in the Twin Cities for over 11 years. Single-family homes range from the mid $100,000s to upwards of $800,000 for new construction. Newer builds are subject to increased price points and are available in subdivisions like Westwood Park and Thorpe Bros. Multi-family homes can be found in areas like Pond View Park and Hampshire House from the low $100,000s to upwards of the mid $200,000s. While the neighborhood offers a selection of apartment options, single-family homes and ownership dominate the community.

Like many Minneapolis suburbs, proximity to The Chain of Lakes is essential, and Eliot is only a 10-minute drive from the sandy beaches and water access at Cedar Lake. “Cedar Lake, Lake of the Isles and Bde Maka Ska are three of the city’s most popular recreational lakes, and they’re all nearby,” says Gary Metchnek, seasoned Realtor of Edina Realty.
