Bordered by Interstate 410 and State Highway 16, Hunters Pond is a growing residential area in a prime location for those who work in San Antonio but are interested in living away from the bustle of the city. “Hunters Pond is uniquely positioned 15 to 20 minutes from almost anywhere you would want to be Antonio metropolis area,” says Kenneth Burroughs, sales professional with Rausch Coleman Homes for the Hunters Pond community. “Since we are known as the ‘Military City,’ proximity to bases and VA care is paramount. We are 15 minutes to Lackland Air Force Base, Kelly Base, Fort Sam Houston and VA hospitals in the Medical Center.”

Houses in the area include more established single and two-story New Traditional Craftsman built in the early to mid-2000s, and new construction builds. Recent closing sale prices in the Hunters Pond community range from $200,000 to $260,000 for a brick, single-story home. “We are a new construction builder in an already established community,” says Burroughs. “We have been building new homes in Hunters Pond Phase 7 and Phase 8 for a few years. We are a rather unique builder in the area because we have 50-foot-wide lots, market competitive upgrades, and our brick front elevation provides more curb appeal. Wider lots provide larger-than-standard yards, and twice as much space between homes. Think comfort and privacy!”

Recent prices in the nearby Applewhite Meadows community range from $200,000 for a new construction, two-story New Traditional Craftsman with 900 square feet of living space and brick and clapboard siding to $345,000 for a new construction, New Traditional Craftsman with 2,600 square feet of living space.

Students can attend Bob Hope or Spicewood Park Elementary School, and then go on to Resnik Middle School and Southwest Legacy High School. Both elementary schools and the middle school are less than 10 minutes away by car; the high school is less than 15 minutes away. Southwest Legacy High is an Early College High School, giving students the opportunity to apply for cybersecurity and teaching classes. Texas A&M University – San Antonio is close by, as is Palo Alto College.

For a quick shopping trip, Dollar General is on the other side of Highway 16. Most options for extensive grocery shopping are about 15 minutes away, like the H-E-B and Walmart Supercenter in Harlandale. You’ll find several fast-food options like Whataburger minutes from Hunters Pond, and plenty of taquerias. Tacos El Forastero is a food truck operating in the area that offers fresh, authentic Mexican food including various mini tacos, meals and more. Dos Hermanos Parrillada offers similar fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner in a festive restaurant setting. Big-name restaurants can be found 15 minutes away at the Rivercenter Mall downtown, or Brooks City.

The Hunters Pond community has a park with a small playground, a basketball court, a walking trail and a pond accessible to all residents. Palo Park is a public park 10-minutes away with a larger, cushioned playground, a large pavilion for an outdoor lunch and plenty of green space. It’s near Cortez Library, where booklovers can pick out their next read, or participate in scheduled programs like arts and crafts, and book clubs. Burroughs adds that Hunters Pond is close to major venues like The Alamo, AT&T Center and Majestic Theater, placing you in a great location for options for family or recreation events, whether you’re interested in sports, theater, tourist attractions or history.

In Hunters Pond, you can live in a quiet, residential area a short drive away from everything San Antonio has to offer.
