Redbird Ranch
Ongoing construction includes Modern Transitional homes
Redbird Ranch is a D.R. Horton community with Modern Transitional homes built from the early 2000s through the mid-2020s. Construction is ongoing as developers plan to add nearly 3,000 more single-family homes to the neighborhood within the next 20 years. Current builds include a mix of single-story and two-story homes with attached garages and three to five bedrooms. Modern Transitional design features a blend of brick and stone exteriors, and most properties have fenced-in backyards. On the inside, homebuyers will find open floorplans and smart-home technology. Home prices typically range from $200,000 for smaller single-story properties to $425,000 for larger builds. Residents must also pay monthly HOA fees. The neighborhood’s overall CAP Index crime score of 2 out of 10 is lower than the national average of 4.Master-planned community with pools, sports courts and nature trails
As a master-planned community, Redbird Ranch offers various recreational amenities. “They have multiple amenity centers, so it’s not going to be overly crowded when the summer months come and school lets out,” Nichols says. The amenities center on Pool Side Drive features a community pool, a clubhouse with a fitness center, a playground, basketball and tennis court. A paved walking path loops around Holliman Park, where the neighborhood’s second community pool has a splash pad area. The park also has a playground, athletic field and lighted basketball court. Nature trails wind through Redbird Ranch and are popular spots for walking, cycling or mountain biking through its greenbelt. Golfers can play a round at the nearby Golf Club of Texas, a public 18-hole course less than 5 miles from the neighborhood. As construction on Redbird Ranch continues, developers plan to expand its recreational amenities to accommodate the growing population. Most Redbird Ranch residents live in the Northside ISD
The neighborhood is split between two school districts: the Northside Independent School District and the Medina Valley Independent School District. The Northside ISD serves residents in Bexar County, while the Medina Valley ISD covers those in Medina County. Most students live in Bexar County and can start their education at Herbert G. Boldt Elementary School, which earns a B from Niche. Older kids may attend the B-plus-rated Dr. Joe Bernal Middle School and A-minus-rated John Marshall Harlan High School. The district participates in the Alamo Colleges Dual Credit Program, which allows high school students to take free dual enrollment courses from several colleges in the San Antonio area.Food trucks, outdoor markets and more in Holliman Park
The Redbird Ranch Homeowners Association hosts various events throughout the year. Holliman Park is a destination for the Curbside Cuisine series, which brings a rotating cast of food trucks to the neighborhood each month. The seasonal Night Market series highlights local businesses in the park, and it includes themed events like The Night Market Before Christmas. While October is still hot in San Antonio, Falltober Fest celebrates the changing seasons with carnival rides and a pumpkin decorating contest. The Potranco Road corridor has shopping plazas and grocery stores
Residents have access to several shopping plazas on Potranco Road. These plazas feature a mix of local businesses, family owned restaurants and fast-food chains. Spots such as Brickhouse Barbershop, Roxy’s Hair Salon and Nail & Spa Potranco serve the community alongside eateries like El Buen Paladar, known for its traditional Central American cuisine. Sofia’s Pizzeria is another local favorite, serving fresh pies topped with their signature homemade sauces. The Rusty Nail offers a neighborhood bar with house-smoked brisket and craft cocktails, while fast-food options include Sonic and Pizza Hut. For groceries, H-E-B is less than 3 miles from Redbird Ranch. Residents are also about 6 miles from Costco and Walmart.Access to downtown San Antonio and beyond
Residents typically rely on their cars to get around. Redbird Ranch is about 25 miles from downtown San Antonio, and those working in the city should be aware that rush-hour traffic on U.S. Route 90 can complicate morning and evening commutes. For flights, residents are less than 30 miles from San Antonio International Airport. The closest hospital is CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – Westover Hills, around 11 miles from the neighborhood. Redbird Ranch also offers proximity to the Lackland Air Force Base, about 15 miles away.Agents Specializing in this Area
