Hill Country sunsets, suburban serenity

In Sonoma Ranch, Hill Country sunsets and suburban convenience come with the territory. Straddling the border between San Antonio and Helotes in Bexar County, this northwest San Antonio neighborhood has all the wide-open spaces of the Texas countryside while still having all the modern amenities of city living.

Multimillion-dollar mansions are the norm

Sonoma Ranch is a mix of rural and suburban space. The northwestern corner of the neighborhood is home to narrow streets winding their way up the hills to luxurious estates. The Spanish Eclectic and contemporary homes offer great views of the surrounding areas. Some lower-elevation areas feature mature oak trees surrounding Spanish-style ranch homes. Newer subdivisions feature tract homes built closer together, nearly all with attached multicar garages, and gated communities offer a slice of the suburban life with new homes with inground pools in the backyard. “Sonoma Ranch is a more classic, traditional suburban neighborhood,” says Michael McCall, Relator with JBGoodwin, Realtors and founder of Live in San Antonio Texas Home Group. “There are a lot of higher-end sections here with multimillion-dollar homes, but there are also more affordable homes, too.” Prices in the area generally range from the $500,000s to the $800,000s, with some expansive estates topping over $1 million.
