Craftsman homes surrounded by rolling hills

Tucked amongst the residential neighborhoods of north central San Antonio, the Woods of Deerfield encompasses the Deerfield area, Canyon Creek Bluffs and the Forests at Inwood. Established in the mid-1980s as a series of subdivisions, the community is known for its rolling hills and the slopes and swells along the streets. Houses can be found in several elevations, and it's only 15 miles from downtown.

Classic homes near modern amenities

"Deerfield’s in a unique location. It’s not far from Fiesta Texas Six Flags, and it’s very close to the 1604. The ease and convenience of getting to work is a big draw for the neighborhood, and it has some of the best restaurants in the city,” says Gasper Sifuentes, a Realtor with San Antonio’s Finest Realty. “That entire area is slightly older and has an upscale feel. You have some very nice Craftsman houses and contemporary styles in other pockets. It also has great amenities like a playground and clubhouse. It’s just a really nice area.” Mature oak trees line the roads and shade the homes and children playing outside. Some of the neighborhood’s most popular designs include ranch-style residences, colonials and mid-century-inspired modern homes. Prices range from $325,000 for a three-bedroom condo to $850,000 for a four-bedroom French provincial.

The full-service grocery store contains a pharmacy, bakery, florist and South Flo Pizza, a New York-style pizzeria with take-and-bake options. There are plenty of dining opportunities in the Deerfield area, too. Galpao Gaucho opened in 2013 and serves more than 17 cuts of meat alongside various side dishes and salads. The authentic Brazilian steakhouse also features a gourmet salad bar with more than 40 items and homemade desserts. Eddie V’s Prime Seafood welcomes guests every day of the week with a daily happy hour, hand-cut steaks and seasonal seafood. Established in 2001, the luxury dining restaurant has more than 300 wines to select from, as well as fresh oysters and a shellfish tower.

Learning and enjoying nature at Hardberger Park

Nearby, Hardberger Park is one of San Antonio’s most expansive green spaces. Designed to occupy the entire family for a day, the park has everything from open spaces to a children’s Nature Play Area where kids receive Grab-N-Go Nature Lessons Kits every second Sunday. A botanical guide helps guests identify the area’s most common wildflowers, and a half-mile land bridge lets animals cross a busy highway without risk of a collision. From Tuesday through Friday each week, visitors can enjoy an hour-and-a-half guided hike through the park, which has eight miles of biking and walking trails.
