Quick commutes and starter homes in Mount Vernon
Lower housing costs than many surrounding neighborhoods combined with easy access to the freeway make Mount Vernon a popular destination for buyers looking for starter homes. “At the end of the day, when you have people looking for single-family homes that are affordable, and they won’t have to move into the high desert area, it’s a great option for first-time buyers,” says Christopher Cervantez, a Realtor with e-Homes who has sold in the neighborhood. Mount Vernon is a residential community in western San Bernardino, surrounded by Interstate 215 to the east and Foothill Freeway to the north, providing residents with a convenient way to start a commute around the Inland Empire. As Cervantez noted, housing prices here are comparable to high desert communities like Hesperia and Victorville, much further away from San Bernardino. By focusing their search in Mount Vernon, buyers can pay less than in northern San Bernardino or nearby cities like Rialto and Fontana while still being close to everything the Inland Empire offers.
