The heart of San Bernardino offers a mix of suburban comforts and urban delights. The city has a history as a pillar of the citriculture and manufacturing enterprise that built the Inland Empire. Historic and stylish homes are just minutes away from vibrant city attractions, the excellent high school at the center of the community and major freeways offering quick commutes to workers.

Here you'll find a community of wide streets and cul-de-sacs perfect for dog-walking, jogging or cycling. Suburban tracts blend seamlessly with urban city blocks, providing quick walks or drives to schools, parks and other attractions in Downtown San Bernardino. Much of the residential landscape surrounding San Bernardino High School is comprised of single-family houses. Most area homes are single-story, with a handful of multi-story houses available. Ranch-style and Craftsman-style houses are a common sight in the neighborhood; both styles are notable for their simplicity and open floor plans, but the latter is noteworthy for their clean geometry, covered front porches and homey interiors. Ample yard space, large garages and paved driveways are common amenities featured in the streetscape, as are quick commute times to nearby schools, retail and downtown attractions. Progressive Properties Realtor Jeff Teel says, "On top of getting more house for your money in the area, you get a nice house in an established neighborhood." In terms of pricing, the area has an average home price of around $390,000, marginally less than the average home price of San Bernardino of $456,000.

Public school students are served by the San Bernardino City Unified School District, attending primary schools like Riley Elementary from kindergarten through fifth grade. Students move on to intermediate and secondary schools such as Arrowview Middle and San Bernardino High School. The latter high school has state officials and professional athletes in its alum roster and a student-to-teacher ratio of 24:1.

Downtown San Bernardino has several must-see attractions perfect for kids to enjoy after school or on the weekend. Visit the Original McDonald's Museum, which blends the history of the massively successful fast-food chain with artifacts and exhibits detailing the development of Historic U.S. Route 66. Revival Arcade is a classic video arcade with several retro and classic arcade games to enjoy. Come to Bryce E. Hanes Park for a pickup basketball game or skate with your friends at the Jon Cole Skate Park. Take the freeway north and visit the San Bernardino Mountains and National Forest, with miles of hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian trails and campgrounds perfect for enjoying the outdoors.

Neighborhood thoroughfares put residents just a stone's throw away from quality retailers and shopping centers. Regional grocery stores like Stater Bros. Markets will keep your kitchen stocked with fresh produce, ingredients, nonperishable foodstuffs and other household necessities. There are also several local and chain restaurants perfect for when you want a nice meal. Salsa Taco House is a locally owned Mexican restaurant offering classic Mexican favorites in a casual counter-serve setting.

Stylish homes near quality attractions and significant freeways give residents access to the best of San Bernardino.
