Nestled in the heart of San Diego’s City Heights, Fairmount Village is a residential enclave that offers the comfort and slower pace of suburbia, with great proximity to a myriad of amenities.

Prospective residents can mainly expect single-family homes throughout the densely packed streets that make up the neighborhood. As Denise Gomez, Realtor and founder of Decohouse Group, says, “The neighborhood brings Craftsman-style and cottage-style homes together, at a great price point,” which attracts buyers. Many houses typically range between 600 and 1,300 square feet, with plenty of room to make your own. You’ll rarely find two of the same house in Fairmount Village, as homes have varying architectural styles, ranging from Craftsman-style homes with multiple gabled roofs to cozy cottages with covered porches to multi-family buildings. Many homes have fenced-in front yards that provide additional privacy and a blend of enclosed garages and uncovered driveways that fit multiple vehicles. Houses in Fairmount Village are competitively priced with homes in neighboring communities and can cost anywhere between $500,000 to $800,000.

Children in Fairmount Village won’t have to travel far to get to class, as there are several public school options nearby. If the academic requirements are met, students at Clark Middle School can receive college and career mentoring as part of the College Avenue Compact program that offers guaranteed admission to San Diego State University. Nearby Crawford High School provides a variety of extracurricular activities for students, including an International Club, an adventure club that takes field trips to kayak, rock climbing and surfing, and much more.

You can get your steps in for the day by heading to Azealia Park, which features a canyon trail perfect for a quick jog or walk with your pup. Open since 1972, Azealia Recreation Center has been a staple in the community for decades and hosts recreational activities for children and adults, ranging from softball to Lego building to Youth Futsal. Highland and Landis Park has plenty of green spaces and a community pool and recreation center.

Next to the park is the expansive Weingart City Heights Library. The library offers a myriad of services for residents, whether it’s just checking out the latest bestsellers, using one of the many public computers, or honing your skills in the Chess Club. There are a variety of programs available for children and adults at the library, as well as rotating art exhibits. Head to the City Heights Performance Annex to catch a theater performance or year-round events.

Take your favorite book and head to Cafeina Café, a favorite among locals in the area for its variety of cold and hot coffee selections, and don’t forget to grab a pastry as well. You’ll find many shops and eateries along University Avenue that offer a blend of foods from all over the world. You can catch live music at nearby Nate’s Garden Grill, a cozy restaurant offering American fare and an extensive craft beer selection. If you need groceries, you’ll find fresh produce and anything else you need at El Super.

Proximity to I-15 and the 805 freeway allows for easy access to your commute and puts the rest of the city at your fingertips.
