Connecting California to Mexico
Otay Mesa is set at the crossroads between San Diego and Tijuana, bordered by the Otay River Valley and the city of Chula Vista to the north. As the largest industrial area in the county, it's a hub for manufacturing and transportation jobs such as Tacoma truck production and other corporations that move goods between Mexico and the U.S. “It’s always been more workable than livable,” says Derek Barksdale, Otay Ranch-based Broker with Military Mutual. “But the hope is that the new developments change the overall appeal and make people want to stay, not just work.” The up-and-coming Candlelight project aims to develop 450 townhomes in Otay Mesa to meet the demand for middle-income housing options.
