The perfect neighborhood name
Situated in the western slopes of Twin Peaks, Midtown Terrace combines country-like living with the city only a stone’s throw away. “This neighborhood has the atmosphere of a small village, with a quiet, suburban vibe that makes you forget you're in the middle of the city," says local and City Real Estate Realtor Erik Throm.” While the neighborhood itself is largely residential, there are plenty of nearby trails to explore, international restaurants to sample and high-performing schools for students to attend.

Many midcentury homes
Like so many Bay Area neighborhoods, Midtown Terrace is characterized by sloping hills that give homes the appearance of being at a slight tilt. Homes are similar in design, with midcentury modern split-levels the most recognizable with their distinct asymmetrical exteriors and neutral, muted hues. “Homes are detached, which is incredibly rare for San Francisco, and it gives you lots of privacy. There's also a very green, wooden feeling because there's lots of mature trees on the slopes between houses," says Tim Gullicksen, a Realtor with Corcoran Icon Properties. Residential streets can be demanding to walk, making cars a necessity and the common attached garages a useful convenience. Thanks to the hills, some homes even have views, like of the colossal Sutro Tower, San Francisco’s famous three-legged television and radio tower. Prices typically range between $1.1 to $2 million, and homes sell after an average of 38 days.
