Hidden residential enclave in the southern portion of San Francisco
Pine Lake Park is a small suburban enclave at the southern edge of San Francisco. It’s known for bordering a linear greenspace, which gives the neighborhood its namesake. With its well-kept manicured front lawns and larger-than-usual setbacks, it stands apart from surrounding neighborhoods. “It’s a quiet, residential community with larger, grander homes than Sunset and Parkside. You’ve got a lot of detached homes with elegant floorplans here,” says Realtor Marcus Lee of Compass and a San Francisco native. “It doesn’t really feel like San Francisco.”

Colorful row houses and Mission-style architecture
The neighborhood offers a mix of home styles dating back to the 1940s and ‘50s. Some streets feature attached, stucco rowhouses painted with soft pastel pinks, greens and blues, similar to those found in the neighboring Sunset area, but with a larger front yard or driveway. These homes typically feature a ground-floor garage with a living space on the second floor. Closer to the park, the streets are lined with classic, one- and two-story Bay bungalows with landscaped lawns and wide driveways. Architectural styles vary, but many display red-tiled rooftops and arched windows that reflect 19th-century Mission-style details. The homes have been well maintained over the years, often with more modern interior upgrades while retaining the home's original charm. Prices typically range from $1.5 million to $2.25 million, depending on the size and renovations.
