Lacy is primarily a residential neighborhood with a variety of housing options that cater to different needs and budgets. Modern condos account for the majority of residences in the neighborhood, but Lacy also features a significant number of historic homes, many of which date back to the early 1900s. These include Craftsman bungalows and modern three-story builds designed to maximize square footage. The area’s public schools are overseen by the Santa Ana Unified School District. Garfield Elementary has a C-plus grade on Niche, while Sierra Preparatory Academy, which serves local middle school students, has a C grade. Santa Ana High School has a B-minus grade and is the oldest and largest high school in Orange County. The Santa Ana School District offers open enrollment, so students within the district can attend any school in the district, space permitting. There are also a number of private and charter schools serving the area, including the Orange County Educational Arts Academy, a K-through-8th school known for its popular 2-way bilingual immersion program.

While there isn’t much greenspace within the neighborhood itself, there are a number of popular parks in the immediate vicinity of the neighborhood, including Cabrillo Park and Mabury Park, which offer playgrounds, basketball courts and athletic fields. The petite but popular Santa Ana Zoo is located just outside the neighborhood — within easy walking distance of many homes — and is home to over 350 animals and a few child-oriented rides. For more culture-centered recreations, locals can always go for a walk through the Downtown Santa Ana Historic District, which features carefully restored turn-of-the-century architecture and an impressive assortment of modern murals.
