A family-oriented Stamm neighborhood on the edge of Downtown Santa Fe
Just a mile west of Downtown Santa Fe, La Nueva Casa Solana (locally known as Casa Solana) is an Allen Stamm-designed suburb with quiet, walkable streets, area-affordable homes and access to Gonzales Community School. "Casa Solana has a whole different feel to it than the rest of the downtown area,” explains Jeff Saiz, a Santa Fe local and Associate Broker with Donna Saiz Real Estate Group. “It's much more family-oriented, with more private streets that are less accessible to downtown traffic on Alameda and Agua Fria." Sprawling greenspaces like the Bicentennial and Frank S. Ortiz parks are to the north and south, and the eateries and galleries of the Railyard Arts District sit immediately east, across Saint Francis Drive.

Stamm-designed Santa Fe-style homes and condos
Casa Solana’s winding residential streets are lined with sidewalks, piñon pines, and Santa Fe-style homes designed by locally famous architect Allen Stamm in the 1950s and ‘60s. These homes sit on scruffy lawns studded with cottonwood trees and native plantings, and most feature radiant oak floors, exposed wooden beams called vigas and three- to four-bedroom layouts. According to Santa Fe Unlimited Realty agent Daniel Huberman, Stamm homes are hot commodities in Santa Fe real estate. “Having Stamm associated with your home means it’s basically as good as sold,” Huberman explains. Depending on their bedroom count and state of renovation, these Stamm-designed homes typically range from $440,000 to $750,000; however, prices can range from $860,000 to $1.2 million for those on lots of a quarter-acre or larger that include detached studios or garden spaces.
A handful of attached condos are also available along Placita del Oro, just across the street from the New Solana Shopping Center. These apartment-style studio units have one or two bathrooms, and prices range from $500,000 to $520,000.

River-bound trails, community greenspaces and sprawling dog parks abound
Casa Solana is bordered south by the Santa Fe River Trail, which stretches nearly 10 miles along its namesake stream, connecting to parks and community centers along the way. Set right on this trail, immediately south of the neighborhood, the 15-acre Bicentennial Park has playing fields and baseball diamonds, tennis and basketball courts, and the public Bicentennial Swimming Pool.
The neighborhood's own 135-acre Frank S. Ortiz Park is a sprawling, off-leash dog park, with a monument that recognizes its use as a Japanese internment camp during World War Two. According to Saiz, an access trail leads from here to the La Tierra Trail Network, which has over 25 miles of multi-use trails for hikers, bikers and horseback riders, plus the separate Buckman Track for motorcycles and four-wheelers.
Along Avenida Aliso, locals can also find the Amy Hetager Community Garden. While most plots are used for growing chiles, tomatoes and herbs, the garden also features milkweed patches and native garden meadows to help restore habitats for pollinators like bees.
