Halfway between Historic Savannah and Richmond Hill, the gated communities of Berwick offer private amenities and a classic suburban feel, despite their newer construction. And with a nearby golf course, a centrally located shopping center and plenty of restaurants, Berwick provides everything you might ever need right at home.

Developed mostly in the last two decades, homes reflect recent styles. Throughout curvilinear streets lined with crepe myrtles and moss-draped live oaks, you’ll see mostly Millennial models and newer construction featuring farmhouse accents. Some homes are New Traditional in design with multigabled roofs and a mix of brick and vinyl exterior. Some communities offer a classic feel and showcase colonial-style homes with gabled dormers and sprawling verandas, as well as low country homes. Homes range from $230,000 to $500,000. Town houses are also available, starting around $215,000.

School-age children attend Gould Elementary and West Chatham Middle schools, while older students are split between Beach and New Hampstead high schools. The medical magnet program at Beach High is one of only two allied health programs in the district. Partnering with Memorial Health University Medical Center and CVS Pharmacy, the school provides numerous internships. New Hampstead High was recently named a 2023 Georgia AP Honor School and was recognized as an AP Access and Support School, as well as an AP Humanities and an AP Humanities Achievement school.

Nearly every community has their own clubhouse with a private pool and other amenities, such as tennis courts, a playground and a basketball court. At Stonebridge, kids can glide down the slide on the shaded playground before jumping in the pool to beat the summer heat. Practice your topspin at the tennis courts or shoot some hoops on the basketball court. Take a stroll or enjoy an evening jog around Lakeside Park. The gazebo offers residents a quiet reprieve to relax and enjoy the clouds reflecting off the lake’s clear waters.

Golfers can tee off at nearby Southbridge Savannah Golf Club, whose 18-hole championship course was designed by legendary golf architect Rees Jones. Situated in the middle of dense woodland, the course’s fairways wind through spindly live oaks and towering long leaf pine trees. After a hot day of hitting the links, swing by Vickery’s Bar & Grill for refreshments and to cool down with a cold one. The club offers private lessons, as well as a Summer Junior Golf camp for the little ones to perfect their game.

Centrally located Kroger makes checking items off your weekly grocery list convenient and easy. Where Berwick Boulevard meets U.S. Highway 17, you’ll find plenty of shopping and dining options, including fast-food favorites and fast-casual establishments. Early birds can head to Eggs Up Grill for breakfast classics and lunch specials, such as omelets and melts. For a different flavor, swing by El Mariachi and chow down on authentic Mexican food. Try the fajitas and don’t forget to order a flavored margarita to wash it all down.

Just 10 miles from Historic Savannah, the gated enclaves of Berwick offer residents comfort and quiet in a prime location, with everything you need right at home.

Lived on a cul de sac and so the children had a place to play. Way too many homes for a two lane road and would never live in a development like this again. It became overcrowded and not enough green space.
