One of Savannah’s oldest neighborhoods
Originally developed in 1917, Gordonston is known as Savannah's oldest bedroom community. The neighborhood was once a streetcar suburb along a trolley line that led to downtown. Today, the community remains committed to preserving the natural landscape and historic charm. Residents enjoy the scenic and quiet lifestyle that comes with living in the suburbs while still being close to Savannah's culture and activities. "You have really easy access to things coming into town," says Joel Solomon, Realtor at Century 21 Solomon Properties and Savannah local. "The city's most popular events are minutes away."

Natural scenery and historic homes east of Truman Parkway
Throughout the neighborhood, a variety of home styles showcasing Gordonston's early beginnings sit on streets adorned with pink azaleas and moss-draped live oaks. Midcentury brick ranch styles dominate the architectural landscape, but this community also provides a rich sampling from different eras, including stately Colonial Revivals and 1920s bungalows, some completely restored and renovated. Newer developments feature brand-new builds designed to pay homage to the neighborhood's historic designs. Gordonston properties range from $200,000 to $550,000, increasing with larger layouts and newer builds. "It's a more affordable area," says Joel Solomon, Realtor at Century 21 Solomon Properties and a Savannah local. "People land here if they want to live downtown but don't have a million bucks." The market time varies depending on the type of listing, but most properties find new owners within a month or so.
