Vehicles overflow onto street parking, leaving just enough room for a car to pass through, and sidewalks walk up to large, covered porches where people can sit and talk to their neighbors. Gambrel roofs and columns are standard features homes with Dutch and colonial influences that populate the area. Prices for these homes typically range between $90,000 and $200,000.

Co-Op Farmer’s Market sells fresh produce

Several locally owned restaurants in The Plot, including Glider Diner, serve American classics. The V Spot is a bar with a wide food and drink selection but is best known for hosting live music. North Scranton, which is just 1 mile away, also has a lot of restaurants for people to visit. “They’re all mom-and-pops,” says John Cognetti, Realtor with Hinerfeld Commercial Real Estate and lifetime Scranton resident. People can find fast food restaurants, including Taco Bell, in the neighborhood. The Co-Op Farmer’s Market is open from July to November every year. “The farmer’s market has existed for a long time,” Cognetti says. “Even as a kid, I used to go there.” Founded in 1939, the market allows farmers to rent a booth to sell fresh produce. Cognetti mentioned that people will sell homemade pastries and an “interesting selection of canned goods.” Locals can get the rest of their groceries at Giant or Oaxaca’s Grocery, part of the Providence Plaza shopping center. More retail and dining options can be found 5 miles away, at Viewmont Mall, and larger stores, such as Walmart and Lowe’s, are between 3 and 5 miles away.
