Triangle-shaped area of history and bustling streets
More than a century ago, Denny Triangle, or Denny, was nothing more than a hill. Over the course of 30 years, the city leveled the hill using hoses and water cannons known in Seattle’s history as the Denny Regrade. Today, Denny embodies a bustling and walkable downtown lifestyle, with 30-story corporate high rises, car horns and streets filled with daytime employees. Walking to work is an everyday task for most residents. “It’s popular because it’s dominated by Amazon and is the closest neighborhood to the International campus,” says Jim Pullin, managing broker at Skyline Properties. “Young folks, retirees and executives live there.” It’s also a happening spot that’s close to Seattle’s best attractions and restaurants.
Home to popular Seattle favorites
The neighborhood is home to a plethora of restaurants, many of which match downtown’s sleek and modern aura. The 5 Point Café holds many accolades, but serves as Seattle’s oldest bar and restaurant, offering around-the-clock breakfast, lunch and dinner. Fulcrum Café offers Columbian coffee and fresh pastries. Pike Place Chowder is a beloved lunch spot for specialty chowders. “It’s very popular,” Pullin says. “There’s a line permanently at the Pike Place Market location, but at Pacific Place, it’s more of the same.” Barolo Ristorante provides an upscale dining experience of Italian dishes with Instagram-worthy presentations. Cap the night with cocktails and light appetizers from Deep Dive; the upscale bar draws oohs and aahs for its chic décor. Neighborhood groceries can be found at Whole Foods and City Foods, while retail shops like Zara, Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue are also nearby.

The Paramount Theatre, which has been functioning for almost a century, has previously hosted big names like singer Idina Menzel to comedian Bill Burr to musical performances from the Seattle Theatre Group. The neighborhood’s history is shown at the Underground Tour. “The day version is family-friendly, and the night version is adult-friendly. It’s awesome to go underneath the top tourist attractions,” Pullin says. The Seattle Center is only a mile walk or a quick monorail ride away, where the Seattle Children’s Museum, the Space Needle, The Museum of Pop Culture and the Boeing and PACCAR IMAX Theater are all located.
