Sound-side community overlooking Seattle’s skyline
Tucked away from Port Orchard’s business areas, Manchester maintains a sense of calm along the Puget Sound. Views of the water overlooking Seattle’s skyline and Blake Island are central to the neighborhood and can be seen from parks and businesses lining the shore. “When we first moved from Vancouver 25 years ago, our first house was in Manchester,” says Beth Allen, a managing broker with Sound Home Connections at Keller Williams Realty West Sound. “Our realtor took us downhill and around a corner on this road, and I had no idea there were views of Seattle here, but going down the hill and seeing the sky with white puffy clouds, I remember going, ‘wow, this is pretty and amazing.’”
Pomeroy Park picnics, paddleboarding and photo opportunities
Pomeroy Park sits on the Port of Manchester, serving as the community’s gateway to Puget Sound since 1923. “Pomeroy Park has a beach where people sunbathe, the kids play in the water, picnic and throw frisbees,” says Marcie Martin, who works in Port Orchard as a managing broker with the Martin Real Estate Group. From the park, book enthusiasts can walk to the Manchester Library to select their next favorite read. The library is also known for its annual events, including the Salmon Bake and Book Sale over Father’s Day weekend. “Manchester State Park is much larger than Pomeroy Park and has camping and a historic torpedo warehouse, which is a brick building used a lot for photo opportunities like weddings.” The state park overlooks the Sound, where kayakers and paddleboarders glide across the water. Picnic tables are dispersed along the shoreline for meals, with views of the water and Mount Rainier serving as the backdrop.
Pomeroy Park is a waterfront park that is a popular spot for locals to have a picnic.
The Manchester Library is a branch of the Kitsap Regional Library system and serves Manchester.

Craftsman influence along cul-de-sacs and Puget Sound-side properties
Seattle’s skyline and Blue Island can be seen from Manchester’s waterfront homes, ranging from 1940s Cape Cods to 1970s ranch-styles. Depending on size, these houses list between $806,000 and $1.2 million. Waterfront homes are stilted to combat potential flooding, a risk that decreases along with pricing the further inland homes are located. Depending on lot sizes, inland ranch-style homes list roughly between $390,000 and $700,000. New traditional homes built in the early 2000s bare Craftsman influences and line cul-de-sacs, listing between $440,000 for a three-bedroom and $630,000 for a four-bedroom.
Ranch style homes with stunning views of the Puget Sound can be found throughout Manchester.

Within walking distance of the Pomeroy Park Boat Ramp is Manchester Pub, where cold beers and bar food pair well with live music. Since Manchester is more removed from busy business districts, shoppers must drive at least 5 miles to reach Albertsons for groceries or Ace Hardware for home project necessities.
Locals can visit the Harborside Market and Cups Espresso for fresh coffee and snacks.
