"The neighborhood mostly has small subdivisions, but some areas have bigger yards and feel more rural," says Realtor Aleta Boudreaux, who has been selling homes for 40 years and works with Azalea Real Estate. Modest, late 20th-century ranch-style homes cost between $250,000 and $275,000. Subdivisions like Whitestone and Shenandoah have new traditional homes, while Camellia Grove has contemporary Craftsman homes. These newer, larger homes typically cost between $270,000 and $380,000.

Education at Mobile County Public Schools

One of Mooncrest’s defining features is Semmes Municipal Park. "Semmes Park has a popular splash pad, where you'll see a lot of families during the summer and on weekends," Boudreaux says. The park also offers a playground and an exercise area for adults. The Admiral Disc Golf Course is on the park grounds, offering 18 holes for residents to play. Just 7 miles east, Municipal Park has a fishing pond with a surrounding walking path and a spacious play area. Mobile Tennis Center is adjacent to the park. Across from the park, the Mobile Museum of Art offers local art, youth art classes and community events. Nearby, Mobile Botanical Gardens offers miles of scenic nature trails. Visitors can also take art or fitness classes surrounded by the flowering gardens. Magnolia Grove Golf Course has two renovated public courses featuring marshlands, lakes and creeks among 54 total holes.

Mobile Regional Airport is 7 miles away, and Mobile International Airport is 20 miles from Mooncrest.
