Wayne is the epitome of small-town living combined with big-city amenities. Thirty miles outside Dayton, this charming, peaceful community treats residents to gorgeous homes, miles of farmland and a strong sense of community. Wayne offers single-family, ranch-style homes, farmhouses, stately Georgians, a few log cabins and elaborate estates. Most homes were built in the 1970s, ranging from $150,000 to 700,000, with a few million-dollar farm properties on the outskirts. The median lot size is 128,000 square feet, but some can span up to 30 acres. Classic Midwestern vibes abound here, with wrap-around porches, inviting porch swings and rustic barns for horses or farm toys filling the landscape. Many homes also boast multi-car garages, in-ground pools, private ponds and stunning views of southern Ohio farmland. Yards are meticulously landscaped and adorned with flowers, shrubs and charming stone pathways. While residents enjoy a laid-back, quiet lifestyle, Wayne is just a few miles from Trenton via Ohio State Route 73, which is brimming with shopping, dining and attractions. Route 73 also provides quick access to Miami University, 11 miles away, and with Route 127 running through the neighborhood, residents can conveniently get to Kettering Health Hamilton and neighboring cities Oxford and Hamilton.

Serve by the Edgewood City School District, local students attend Edgewood Early Childhood Center through kindergarten, Edgewood Primary through second grade, Edgewood Intermediate through fifth, followed by Edgewood Middle and Edgewood High School. Edgewood Primary earned a B-minus on Niche and offers literacy nights, spirit nights and an annual fall festival. The middle school received an overall C on Niche, and Edgewood High earned a C-plus. The high school offers sign language courses, football and swimming teams and collaborates with Pet Partners of Greater Cincinnati to bring therapy dogs to the school.

At Wayne’s Seven Community Park, let the kids play or catch an Ohio Baseball League game. On the outskirts of town is the 352-acre Sebald Park, part of Elk Creek MetroPark’s 800-acre park system, where residents can saddle up on one of the only horseback riding trails in Butler County. Wade in the creek, picnic at one of the 10 shelters or hike through the park’s wooded paths. In the Meadow Ridge area of the park, take in its serene beauty, hike or bike the miles of trail or drop a line in at the Voice of America Lake.

In the center of town on Main Street, fuel up in the morning at the coffee shop Village Perks. The quaint village also boasts a post office, a bank, Dollar General and 7 Mile Market, selling snacks, hot sandwiches and essentials. Sip wine and take in the serene surroundings in the rustic barn at Seven Mile Winery, which offers four wine varietals, food and slushies. The nearest mall is Green Crest Shopping Center in Liberty, 8 miles away, but most restaurants, grocery stores and attractions are along Route 73 in Trenton, just a 5-mile drive. Here, residents can get day-to-day needs at Todd’s IGA Express, enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine at El Barzon, a hot slice at Richard’s Pizza or grab a cold point and play a round of pool at Satch’s Bar and Grill. Residents can, however, get sweet treats like cinnamon rolls, brownies and chocolate chip cookies at Christina’s Cakery Company in town.

A tight-knit community, Wayne puts on a variety of events to bring residents together. The annual Oktoberfest celebration in Seven Mile Park is a local favorite, along with its regular fish frys and an annual fall festival with hayrides, a corn maze, a pumpkin patch and mini train rides.

Wake up to a wonderfully serene and whimsical life in Wayne.
