Living between downtown Redding and Shasta Lake
Pine Grove is the midpoint between downtown Redding's commercial activity 7 miles south and Shasta Lake recreation 8 miles north. "People who are looking for a suburban home in Redding often look in this area to be a little out of the way of downtown," says local Realtor Cory Meyer, one of the top sellers in Northern California and owner of the Cory Meyer Real Estate Team. "People like it because there's no through traffic in the communities; you're only driving here if you're driving to your home." Redding isn't crowded, but the downtown area can get busy by small city standards because it's home to some of the area's prominent employers. Pine Grove is in Shasta Lake, California, where it's a bit quieter, and communities are surrounded by more trees than people.
Lower priced suburbs than Redding
The neighborhood is split by Interstate 5, with most homes in suburban communities to the west side. Meyer says, "You can find decent prices compared to subdivisions in Redding just because of the address." Homes sit on long drives and cul-de-sacs, with trees creating privacy between the midsize lots. Many even have enough backyard space for a pool. These midsize ranch-style and New Traditional homes range from $300,000 to $600,000. Deer Creek Manor is a newer community with a few streets of homes built in the 2010s. Its New Traditional homes range from $500,000 to $700,000, some with elevated views of mountains in the distance. The few streets east of I-5 are much older. Small 1970s ranch-style and manufactured homes are secluded from the road by mature trees, either sitting tucked together or spaced out on grassy lots. They range from $250,000 to $300,000.
This older ranch-style home is situated on the east end of Pine Grove.
This newer upscale home is in Pine Grove’s Deer Creek Manor community.

Joe's Giant Orange Cafe is a legendary local establishment on Cascade Boulevard in the neighborhood. It's easy to spot thanks to the bright orange paint job and the giant orange out front, which is the original structure.
