Indian Meadows is a small community of manufactured homes
Indian Meadows is a manufactured home community on the edge of Sheboygan, offering lower housing costs than traditional single-family homes. The community includes a main park and a fenced-in area for dogs, and mature trees shade streetscapes throughout the neighborhood. The proximity to Interstate 43 and big box retailers affords convenience, though there aren’t many dining options in the area aside from chain eateries.
Sheboygan schools offer a wide range of clubs and activities
Jackson Elementary, which earns a B-minus from Niche, hosts lots of family events and fundraisers, including an annual Harvest Night. Taking place around Halloween, many attendees come in costume to enjoy music and a haunted courtyard. The C-plus-rated Farnsworth Middle has a fitness center that’s available to students after school, as well as athletic programs for badminton, volleyball and wrestling. Clubs at the B-rated Sheboygan South High include forensics, debate and a competitive eSports team. In 2019, the school opened a new entrepreneurship program called IncubatorEDU that promotes collaborative learning and provides mentoring opportunities for students.
Community playground, basketball court and dog park
The Indian Meadows Manufactured Home Community has two green spaces at the center of the neighborhood. The first is a park with an open field, a playground and a basketball court. Just across the street from the main park, there’s a fenced-in dog park where local pets can run around. East of the community, Optimist Park has a playground, splash pad, and several athletic fields.
Close to big box stores, retailers and a few local restaurants
The intersection of Interstate 43 and Washington Avenue, just west of the neighborhood, has a variety of large retailers, including Target, Walmart and TJ Maxx. Most of the nearby dining options consist of chains like Chili’s, but farther north on South Business Avenue are a few locally owned spots like Theo’s Pizza and Catering. Sheboygan’s Family Restaurant has been serving a mix of American fare and Italian dishes for over 20 years. There’s also a Piggly Wiggly about a mile away.
Three-bedroom manufactured homes with financing options available
Residents can either rent a lot within Indian Meadows and bring their own manufactured home or purchase one of the community’s available homes. Pre-existing units generally have three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Prices typically range from $30,000 to $100,000, with monthly financing options. Some areas in the neighborhood are at risk of flooding during heavy rainfall, though most residences are unaffected, and flood insurance generally isn’t required.
Close to Interstate 43 and local bus stops
Interstate 43, the city’s main highway, is about a mile west and leads over 50 miles south to Milwaukee. Downtown Sheboygan is about 3 miles away, and there are Shoreline Metro bus stops outside of the community, just off of South Business Drive. Aurora Medical Center Sheboygan County is about 3 miles away, while Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport is about 60 miles away. The neighborhood earns a CAP Index Crime score of 7 out of 10, compared to a national score of 4.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
