Those looking to purchase a home in the Martin Luther King Jr neighborhood can expect a range from $50,000 for a two-bedroom home to $135,000 for a renovated three-bedroom house. The newly constructed modern Craftsman-style homes to the northeast can be listed as high as $315,000.

Community gatherings and the state fair

The David Raines Recreation Center and Martin Luther King Jr Neighborhood Association host several events throughout the year. Not far is the Louisiana State Fairgrounds, which also hosts several events, including the Annual Louisiana State Fair.

Kansas City Southern Railway

Neighboring the community to the west is the Kansas City Southern Railway. As this is an active railyard, residents experience background noise, and on occasion, longer commutes due to passing trains. Those looking to move to the area should consider this before making Martin Luther King Jr their new home.
