Suburban community with rustic charm
Pines Road is a community of residential subdivisions branching out from its namesake road in Shreveport. “It’s an up-and-coming neighborhood,” says Zondra Spikes, a Realtor with Keller Williams Northwest. “Grocery stores and restaurants, kid-friendly with schools and daycares nearby.” A quiet, rural neighborhood in Northwest Louisiana, residents may see Blue Jays perched in pine trees and calling to one another; Pines Road’s laidback Southern charm is its appeal for homebuyers. “It’s on the outskirts of the city, but still not far from everything you’d want.” About 10 miles from downtown, residents can enjoy convenient access to the culture, entertainment and amenities of the city.

Ranch-style homes from the late 20th century line the streets throughout Pines Road; many feature pyramid roofs and tall, mature pine trees rising above the fray. Most ranch-style homes go for between $200,000 and $250,000, but smaller homes from the midcentury can start closer to $150,000. Split-level houses can also be found; two-story homes and new construction can reach asking prices around $300,000. Some subdivisions have a monthly homeowner’s association fee that ranges from $10 to $50.

Nearby, try Nicky’s Mexican, a Louisiana chain local to Shreveport-Bossier City with specialty dishes like crawfish enchiladas and baja shrimp tacos, or, for homestyle Southern favorites, pop into Cracker Barrel.
